Mirch Masala
Baroda / Vadodara being a commercial city invite lot of business travelers. Like Pune it also an education centre and quite active in cultural front. Students from different parts of the country can be seen here including children of NRIs. Very naturally you will find lot of eateries here and few are really good. One such place is Mirch Masala. It is near Race Course Circle popularly known as Chikli Circle. It is in the basement of Registered Office of ICICI Bank.
Mirch Masala is away from crowded streets of Baroda so parking is not a problem. You can safely park your vehicle on the both side of the road. Till today pick-up vehicle of Baroda Police will not lift your vehicle – this is very common in Baroda because of senseless parking habit of people.

Décor
For Lunch or Dinner you have go inside the restaurant. Decor is unique; at least I have not seen it anywhere. Walls are full of painting of Bollywood stars. Few antiques also you can find there hanging here and there. AC is adequate. Sitting arrangement is good but congested. A bigger hall would make it a better place.
Once I took few clients and they were also quite fascinated by the décor.
Snacks
After parking, go down the stairs and you can see snacks counters of Mirch Masala. You can have Pani-puri, Bhel Puri, Rgada Pettice, Chhole Bhature etc. Specialty is their Jilebi. Four pieces they will fry infront of you for Rs. 40/-. Really delicious. For these fast food counters you have to buy coupons in advance.
Food in restaurant
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are available. One may also try their Executive lunch but it’s too heavy. I prefer la-carte.
As an appetizer you have choice however Jal Jeera or Fresh Lime Soda is quite refreshing. Butter milk served in tall glass and that makes it heavy. Soft drinks are also available and served in glass. Different varities of papads are also available. One may try veg or chicken clear if one is fond of soup.
We are not very fond of vegetarian food when go for dinning in good restaurants. So. I can not write much about veg-food. Dal Makhani and palak preparations are good. In non-vegetarian section it is mainly chicken preparation that we prefer. Common items like butter chicken, chicken Masala etc are available. Better try Chicken Afghani which they have added recently. Afghani with kulcha is a good combination.
Rotis? Yes you have lot of choice. We go for Kulcha
Rice? We rarely go for rice when we take food outside because being Bengali we consume lot of rice and fish during the week. However the list of rice items is quite long. Try your luck not me.
Dessert section needs improvement. Better go to Havmore to treat your tongue.
Service
Staff is very polite and dressed very decently. Try to explain you the recipes if you ask. Once my son toppled the glass of soft drink due to masti which was 3/4th empty and staff / management was kind enough to replace it. An adult may not get same attention so be careful - let us not do monkey business.
Mirch Masala is a good place to visit with family with naughty kids. One may even go there to see the décor.
