Milan is well known around the world as a business city but if you walk around you can find a lot of interesting places for sightseeing.
First of all the well know place:
DUOMO is the main curch in Milan located in a large square. Is a gothic style construction with a lot of pinnacle on its roof. On the topo of the highest pinnacle stand a gold plated statue of Maria, the Jesus Christi mother, that the ''milanesi'' call ''Madonnina'' and has been elected protector of the city.
Inside the curch you can see a lot of old paints as well as the treasure consisting in gold tumblers and crosses.
This curch was built in 200 years using granite blocks coming from caves located near the Maggiore lake.
The blocks arrived in Milan by special boats using the water channels (called Navigli) designed by Leonardo da Vinci.
GALLERIA
Just beside the Duomo lays an huge building with inside a cross shaped corridor called ''Galleria'' where you can find coffee shops, restaurant and many high class shops.
The ''Milanesi'' use to stroll around on Sunday afternoon.
On the floor t the junction of the two corridors you can see many mosaics and one of them shows a bull.
The ''Milanesi'' say that if you crush with your feet the balls of the bull surely you will return again in Milan and furthermore if you crush them on 1st of January you will have a lucky year.
L'ULTIMA CENA
Well known as ''THE LAST SUPPER'' is a wall fresh paint of Leonardo da Vinci and shows the last supper of Jesus with his followers.
You must book in advance a ticket if you wish to see it as since 1998 only 200 people are admitted each day.
CASTELLO SFORZESCO
Is an huge caste laying in the center of Milan just one mile away from Duomo.
Has been built by Francesco Sforza, the ruler of Milan.
NAVIGLI
There are 4 ''Navigli'' in Milan.
They are channels designed by Leonardo da Vinci as water ways for commerce in/out of Milan.
The most famous is Naviglio di Ripa Ticinese where you can find a lot of café and small restaurants and night time places where you can listen jazz, blues or ''Milanesi'' songs
VIA MONTENAPOLEONE and VIA DELLA SPIGA
Both located just a wakaway from Duomo, they are the kingdom of fashion.
Gucci, Prada, Versace, Cartier, Missoni, etc.shops are located in these two streets.
Have a big pocket of money if you wish to shop.
SAN SIRO
Located 3/4 miles away from Duomo is the football (soccer) stadium for Milan AC and Inter Milan teams.
It has been renovated in 1990 and now looks like a rectangular shoes box.
