This review might seem a bit late, now that XP is out. But make no mistake, Win 2000 is the best OS ever from Microsoft. Why? Simple....
Ultra stable - I had this system once running for a week continuosly (yes a week) and it didnt crash. Ok I have my hardware too in perfect condition with adequate cooling.
Has regular updates - Service pack 3 is out and it only makes the OS better.
Its been there for some time now, so most of the teething problems have been ironed out and has a better support base than XP (as of now).
If your hardware is two years or less old then you should be well off, though this is no guarantee!
But look out for,
You must have atleast 128MB RAM with a 500MHz range processor. Anything less and you are commiting a crime.
Not all that great for multimedia. When I say multimedia, it is playback of say games, movies etc. Not creation. For creation it is the best thanks to its stability. Though things have improved a lot since the time it was launched.
This is more due to lack of proper drivers for your hardware. So make sure you have the latest patches and drivers.
So for the best XPerience switch to 2000!
