It costs Rs 5, 299, which makes it a great deal for someone looking for a cheap smartphone. We played around with the device for a bit at the launch read on for our first impressions.

Perhaps, the best word to describe the Lumia 430 is'cute'. It is a tiny phone with a 4-inch screen. While being tiny, it is also quite a chubby phone, measuring in excess of 10mm.

All this makes the phone fit snugly in the palm. We felt it was quite cute. Like other Lumia phones, its body is made of plastic and it is available in an array of fruity colours. The build quality of the phone is superb and certainly better than what companies like Motorola and Micromax offer in this price bracket. While, it is a nice looking phone, the Lumia 430 skips on a lot of features. It is powered by an old Qualcomm dual-core processor. Thankfully though, it has 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory. It even has a microSD card slot and is a dual-SIM 3G smartphone.

Despite the slow processor, we found the performance to be smooth in the short time we spent with the phone. Windows Phone operating system has smooth interface even on frugal hardware and that helps Lumia 430.

However, when you look at the display and the camera you'll be disappointed. You get a 800x480 pixels display, which is fine for a phone costing Rs 5, 000, but it appears to be washed-out. On the back, Microsoft has added a 2-megapixel camera, which seems more of an obligatory addition than a proper feature. On the front too there's a VGA camera.

Microsoft's Lumia camera app is also missing on the device and suffice to say this isn't the phone you'd want to use to click photos. That much we can tell you even from the short time we spent with the device.
