Internet Explorer is by Microsoft which is a leader in software industry. My experience with IE has been good. I use only IE to surf net on my laptop and it works just fine when compared to other browsers.
What I like about IE is that it is simple to use. Any one can use it, even if they are browsing for the first time. Its speed is also good and downloads too get worked up quickly. Moreover, it is by Microsoft, so you can be rest assured of the security part. I have heard of some privacy issues in Google Chrome, which are not there in IE.
IE should be the browser you should be using. But make sure you don't install other browsers. That can make IE really slow. The reason could be that they try to lock settings or permissions which IE needs to function. Hence the lag.But, if have only one browser, that too IE, rest assured you are going to have the best experience.
