I was carried away by it's looks. MICROMAX Q3 has a beautiful look, has got QWERTY Keyboard and has got Dual SIM. The PLUS Points ends here.
The MINUS Points are endless. Beware, before you buy any local mobiles. I never buy any Chineese items. And as Q3 was an Indian product with one year warranty, after looking at it's beauty, I bought one.
But my joy was shortlived. It is just another chineese product. It failed on both Hardware as well as Software aspects. One by one, here they are.
First Hardware.
1. UNLOCKing the phone is impossible during darkness. Because the "" button is extreemly difficult to locate. And Unlock key has to be pressed only once before pressing "".
The keys are convex, and thus is difficult to use for a longer time.
The QWERTY Keypad, because of it's small keys, is difficult to use; than the regular keypad which has got larger keys.
It is difficult to key in any text for a long time using only one hand.
Next about SOFTWARE.
The SPEED DIAL does not work. Even though the manual says that it can be used, it never works. And the Service center people confirmed this.
To make any call, you have to scroll/search thru the phone book. And it is not like NOKIA's. It is like the internet search("anywhere"). Hence to call a frequently dialled number, you have to press atleast 5-6 keys.
The PHONE BOOK contains all unnecessary fields, but does not contain essential fields. Searching and EDITing the PHONE BOOK is quite difficult.
The CALL DIVERT Function(For out-of-coverage-area, switch-off etc) also does not work. Again the manual says it works.
The REMINDER(to-do list) can accomodate only 25 entries. Remember, the phone has 1 GB built-in memory. The function is totally useless.
You can not MOVE the contacts from SIM to PHONE BOOK. Hence after COPYing the contacts, you have to DELETE every single contact from SIM.
While COPYing from PHONE BOOK to SIM, only the first number is copied. Other numbers are not copied.
God only knows the durability of the speakers. As it is relatively new company, what if the speakers fail after few months?
Playing music from MY MUSIC is really annoying. You can not jump from one sub folder to another sub folder. For eg. you can not jump from BHAJANs to FILM-SONG.
Eventhough the screen is quite large, you need a spectacle to read "Who is Calling" whenever a call comes. The letters displayed are very small.
The supplied handset cover is use-less, as we have to take out the cover to use the phone every time.
There are many more complaints. But I lost interest in using this phone. So I went to the shop again, and exchanged it for a NOKIA 2700 Classic, by shelling out Rs 350/- more.
Never buy any Local Brand Mobiles. OR say, think thousand times before you buy one.
