Government policy put high import duties on 'made in china' products from Hawaii etc. but MMX, Lava, Xylo etc are way of go-around strategy of the Chinese firms. It is like Chinese shooting over some one else's shoulders. With this view, I always stay away from 'Made in China' brands, first for their inferior quality and also 'blood money' labor in their products. I always used Nokia, Sony mobiles.
But last few years MMX has carved a niche for itself in Indian market with its innovative product line. First, for introducing dual sim phones in India. I was impressed by their Aisha 52, A68 and now A89 droid phones. Ninja A89 has all wannabe features of an android phone at INR 6500/- , which not even Samsung, Nokia not offering at 15k price tag, thanks to China MMX is providing affordable yet, classy phone A89 Ninja. As many reviewers gave spec already, I just go a step further to see how it fares on use.
Dual core 1GHz, works efficiently - No lag what so ever in navigation. Loads software faster, Most of the droid games play effortlessly.
Display - better than some of Y series Galaxy phones, Ashas, but colors gets washed out at corners and at angles due to lack of IPS. But then at this price point, one cant complain for it.
Camera - I must say is poor with very limited settings, No flash, we can safely forget low lit pics. (In fact, A68 has 5MP camera costing almost same, but got discontinued ...why? )
Battery - Not bad but then not good to mention it either. On moderate use of gaming, calls, messaging it lasts for 6 hrs. If you are a gamer, you might require recharge at every 3-4 hr.
Heating is observed near camera when put on recharge. My advice is never work on any mobile while it is charging.
Data - 2G speeds are just ok at 120 kbps, satisfied. 3G tried, but not used on continuous basis as it is bit costly for me. But some users told the overall experience is ok with 3G.
Video play - Good as it play HD videos at 480p comfortably, with powerful processor in the hood.
Dual sim - worth mentioning it, comfortably handles Data on one sim and calls from other, though there is a lag observed in data on 1st sim moment you pickup call on other sim. Dont know why?
Speaker - Good at the price point, not so loud, but will not miss calls. voice clarity is good for MMX but signal - none can beat Nokias.
Document viewing - N/A (dissatisfied) ; GPS - N/A ; Secondary camera : N/A
Finally, I have seen a guy bringing phone as part of the screen not responding to touch thereby phone is unusable, its a new set. I am surprised at this but then its Chinese make. Check for yourself, before buying it. This is not to say MMX sets are bad, but be sure of the piece you are buying and don't ever order thru Net. All the best!
