Below incident will clearly answer your question "Should I go for Micromax?"

I purchased MICROMAX A70 through ebay on 26/09/2011. It reached me around 7th October 2011.  From day 2, I faced minor issues with touch screen. After few months around April 2012 the touch screen of the phone was behaving funny. Suddenly it goes non-responsive and sometimes automatically some buttons get pressed.

My 1st visit to service center:

Then I visited OVEZ COMMUNICATION, the authorized service center. They told that it is a mother board issue; we will replace and give it back to you. It took around 45 days(end of May 2012) to get my mobile back, after repeated calls and visiting the service center. Here the IMEI changed as they replaced the mother board.

My 2nd visit to service center:

After a week, again the same touch screen issue popped up. Due to personal work I could not visit the service center immediately but informed them over phone. I went to service center again around mid of June 2012. They told touch screen issue and we will replace the touch screen. Again the same story of follow up, parts not delivered etc. and I got back the mobile by 2nd week of July.

My 3rd visit to service center:

After 2 days again the same touch screen issue popped up. I went to service center again in the month of August 2012. They told touch screen issue and we will replace the touch screen. I asked why it is coming back again and again. They started telling you may be keeping it in tight pocket. I told them, I hardly find the mobile in working state to be used. I requested the service center engineer to repair it properly as the warranty will be over soon. I got back the mobile by end of September. The warranty is over now. I spend around 30 minutes and checked the mobile. It worked fine.

My 4th visit to service center:

It didn't take a week and again the same issue. I was pitched off, visited the service center on 10/11/12 and told them to either repair or replace it. They told now it will be charged as the warranty is over. I explained them the whole scenario and gave the handset.

My 5th visit to service center:

I asked them, either the issue is with the mobile that can’t be repaired or the engineer in not repairing it properly. But they did not bother to listen to me. They just told one thing, “we will replace the touch screen for Rs.1850”. I asked what is the guarantee that it will not reoccur? Then they told if it happens again within 3 months, then we will replace for free. I told them that last time replacement was done on 18/08/2012 and I reported the issue again on 10th November i.e. less than 3 months. Why don’t you replace it now? The lady sitting at the counter started behaving rudely and not at all listening to me. Then I asked to give it writing that “It is a repeated touch screen issue and we are not repairing it now”. She told “No we can’t do it”. Then I told, at least give me the receipt that I have submitted the mobile for repining. She told that “No. we can’t give that receipt”. I asked for the Xerox copy. Then during giving the Xerox copy she struck out the word  “Repeated“from the receipt. I asked “why did you strike it out?”, She told “No, I did not do it.” Then I realized that, no point in arguing here. Scanned copy of the supporting documents are attached with the email.

I contacted micromax customer care to address the issue. They instructed me to visit the same service center and give them a call from there. But after that I was never ever to reach the customer care number and sent multiple emails on how to contact the customer care but no response at all.
