The most successful and controversial. Review on Michael Schumacher

I read some nice reviews about 'schumi' here. Let me talk about schumi from my perspective. The title is very apt, he is very successful; none of the drivers are anywhere close to him in terms of any sort of stat; take his wins, or pole position, or podiums, or fastest laps. And he is the most controversial. He has been slapped with bending rules; to be fair his team was accused many times of bending the rules, accused of cheating, accused of using the FIA for getting their way. Schumacher has been accused of driving dangerously. Infamous for moving across Damon Hill in 1994 and same thing done to Jacques Villenueve.

Regardless. He won two championships with Benetton in 1994 and 1995, moved to Ferrari which was hardly a top line F1 car. He was lured by the challenge and the money. He earns $40 million per year at Ferrari today !!! But he drove like God, let me not say he drove like demon, :D. Very very few drivers can do that, only drivers like Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost. He won three races. Puts a shame on the youngsters today who are struggling to win one race but claim to be Schumacher beaters. That what seperates him from the rest.

The 196 car was designed by John Barnard who also designed the 1994 and 1995 Ferraris, Jean Alesi who drove the those Ferraris in '94 and '95 said it handled like a truck !!. Either he could not drive that car well or the car was bad. But Jean Alesi was one of the better drivers on the grid. Its what Schumacher did in 1996 that proved he is a talent that comes once in decades. He is in the league of Senna and Prost. He built the team and gave direction for the developement of the car. Ferrari could not have been so fast, for so many seasons if not for Michael Schumacher.

Ferrari never had the best car until 2002. I was fascinated thinking about the fact, 'What could Schumacher do if he had the best car?' , little did I realise that 2002 was such a strong car that Schumi won the title a little more than half way through the season. He won 11 races that season. 2003 was a struggle. He struggled with the car and tyres.

Monza race was revelation. Montoya was faster than him but could not get past him !!! Schumacher kept cool under intense pressure from Montoya. He just managed to win the championship under big Michelin threat. 2004 is again a dream season, Schumacher has won all but one race. Where are all the Schumacher beaters? When Michael is around; they are going to perform inch perfect to beat him. Schumacher is truly the best driver on the grid today. Hats off to the champ.
