I have the $45 MetroPCS plan. I do NOT have a land line phone and use JUST my MetroPCS phone and I have been phone for 2 years.
I typed in my MetroPCS account number into my bank's bill pay and I selected a payment date that Metro PCS said the bill had to be paid by and I instructed bill pay to pay 1 day earlier and I looked at the 1st METRO PCS bill I ever received and put that amount (can't rememember it but it includes all those taxes) and that is what I have been paying ever month for 2 years. My bank bill pay says to pay continuously every month that amount at that date UNTIL I STOP IT.
I have NOT changed that payment in 2 years. I do NOT understand what the other customers are talking about when they say their cell phone costs differ from month to month. My cell phone has never been turned off for non-payment. Pay your bill on time to AVOID their horrible customer service.
That is a good thing but what isn't good IS because there is NOT a monthly contract, Metro PCS can CHANGE the plan's options at any time. Two years ago $45 got you caller ID and a lot of goodies.
Suddenly, my caller ID no longer worked. WTF? Ooops plan changed-pay $2 more for caller ID because it is no longer covered under the $45 plan.
Well that would make it $47 a month to get my caller ID back when for $50 a month METRO PCS will give you Caller ID and even MORE goodies they didn't take from your $45 plan. That part sucks.
Also you can CALL OUT ANYWHERE STATESIDE but Hawaii and Alaska. I get around that by using a calling card to call my friends in Alaska and I never call Hawaii.
If you are traveling OUTSIDE a Metro PCS area , your Metro PCS phone won't work. I do not travel much so this is not a problem for me.
I do get dropped calls however BUT NEVER as many as I had with Sprint in Miami FL or Cingular in Dallas. Cimgular worked great in Abilene TX but was horrible in Dallas TX. Metro PCS is the same way-great in some areas and not so well in others. I live in Tampa FL and Metro PCS is popular here. I don't get that many dropped calls.
As to customer service. I have called them aprox 3 times in 2 years. They use that phone tree press 1, 2 whatever but I figured it out and got a human pretty quick. Every phone land line company I have ever dealt with in the past has worse customer service than MetroPCS cell phone customer service which is WHY I was happy to cut the cord. And, have you ever tried called Verizon cable customer service-horrible? At least Metro PCS customer service did not forward me to a call center in India!
Let's face it Verizon is BEST cell phone company but you pay a premium price. I would rather have rotten customer service than a rotten monthly fee (assuming verizon's cell phone customer service is better (Lol) for the SAME type service.
