Am a little surprised to see so few reviews on this album here. Not sure if there are not many metal music lovers here! Even if you are not a fan of heavy-metal music I suggest you to read this review & also buy this album ASAP. This could be the best money you ever spent on an album.

I started listing to Western music at the age of 23 (in USA)...that is to say VERY late. I realized what I was missing. But once I discovered bmgmusicservice.com I started buying CDs like a maniac :-). I didn't have any listening habits & virtually bought all sorts of music. I should thank Niranjan (has his own band today & performs regularly) who was my room-mate then for induction to the fabulous world of Metallica.

The first song I heard from them was Wherever I may roam I was spellbound by the overall power of the music & also the https://lyrics. I immediately bought the Metallica-Metallica album & also spent 1/4th of ($) my salary on a music system! :-) There was no stopping after that. I bought every CD from Metallica & must say that although Justice For All, Master Of Puppets & Load/Reload/Garage Inc are very good & some of the best metal music out there, the Metallica-Metallic album was something different & classier than all of them.

It is just impossible to have so much of HIGH-Power music packed in a single CD!! This album is the mother of all 'All time great albums that money can buy'. In my opinion this is a MUST have album for any music lover even if you HATE metal music (most of the Indian women do!) :-)

Released in 1991 this album made record sales that made it #1 & one of the best selling metal album of all times. This album single handedly established Metallica as one of the all time great bands. The band has continued to deliver the high-quality music after that & has sustained after a break-up ('Megadeth') & several self-destruct moments. The recent album The St Anger hasn't been a very great success story but it has done fairly well. Their appearance in the MTV awards ceremony was also a good one.

Just a look at the list of the songs & the glance thru lyrics should be good enough to convince you to at least hear it once.

Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Holier than Thou, Unforgiven, Where I may roam, Through the never, Nothing else matter & more are all the best of the best songs. Enter Sandman was rated as top 5 all time great videos & is a gem. Sad but True is equally grand. Holier Than Thou might not have the universal acceptance as the first two but I like it as much & think it takes frustration out perfectly.

The Unforgiven: lyrics/music & the video, all are the standard with which other songs should be measured as far as the presentation goes. I think Bappy has copied the tune in one of the Hindi songs (misery!) Nothing else matters can be packaged in any type of music album & is one of the most popular song in the concerns that the band performs.

Although I agree that above two songs have a separate measuring standard & are just great songs the songs I like most are 'Through the never' & 'Wherever I may roam' in that order. Through the never is a mind boggling experience. It doesn't give time to breath ones it takes off! An Ultra-high performance on drums/guitar make it a special one. Drums are used a little limited in unforgiven & nothing else matter, but here the drummer has cut loose & has given an all time great performance. The same thing can be said about the guitarist!

Whereever I may roam, where I lay my head is home I specially like this song as this was the first one I heard of this great band.

I highly recommend everyone to buy this all time great album. For my Indian friends who do not have developed a taste yet for Western music or the metal music in particular this is the band/album you should start with. You can start with The Unforgiven & Nothing else matters & then move to high decibel songs like Through The Never.

I guarantee a GRAND experience from this album. After this you can graduate to Justice for All & Master of Puppets & more mentioned above.
