I am convinced that we're moving towards making world class movies. We're not there yet, but we sure are getting there.

I heard a lot of people speak about how disappointed they were about this movie. I know not why!Ok, let's take some guesses. Priyadarshan: That name draws crowds looking for dumb canned laughter and nothing else. I can understand why many thought it was too serious and boring. Also, Paresh Rawal had a predefined role in the minds of people: that of a funny man whose each utterance is a joke.

I usually don't write reviews for movies, and I don't exactly admire Priyadarshan's comedy. I went for this movie because I needed a means to kill time. I had no preset expectations from this movie.

But what I actually got was a pleasant surprise!  A movie that is meaningful, funny and touching at the same time!

Paresh Rawal showed that he can play a serious role(while still being funny). Om Puri was as versatile as ever. Akshaye Khanna fitted perfectly in the picture! Though a little unreal, I thought it was really funny how Akshaye Khanna(son) reverse-lectures Paresh Rawal(father) on subjects like dignity. Rajpal Yadav wasn't seen all that much, but the few minutes of his presence were brilliant.

There were some parts of the movie that were extremely unrealistic. There were too many coincidences. Archana Puran Singh was a little too animated. The scenes with the college boys making fun of the two old men was extremely childish. It was as though they had known of the arrival of the two men for very long and had practiced shouting those slogans in chorus. It reminded me of the Popeye Show!

Genelia's body language was amazing, but she needs to work on her Hindi and her speaking style. As someone said sometime, 'Acting is the art of pretending that you are not pretending while you're actually pretending':-) The pretending in her case was quite obvious!

Barring Genelia and Archana Puran Singh, I think the movie was brilliant. I think Priyadarshan should leave behind his older(dumber) genre of comedy and go on to make more intelligent comedies such as this one.
