Change is painful. everytime change has taken place in our lives it has always been met with resistance.
Those who see this film as confusing due to its reveutionary approach will see that they are opposing the very idea the film is trying to convey. The mode of narration is the novelty in this film. Its the essence of this story. Would you buy a box of jigsaw puzzles if it was already solved pasted and framed?
A mental jig-saw puzzle for the audience. That's the best description of this fine movie. Every proceeding scene in this film will make you reconstruct and review the story so far. In doing so the film tells the story of a man without memory. It has accomplished to transfer the mental condition of Leonard ( Guy Pearce). When you see this film you will experience to some extent what memory loss is. By reversing the sequence of events, the film maker has managed to capture the viewers interest and made this into an outstanding classic that can adorn the shelf right between Matrix and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Would this be as interesting as it is if it was told in the chronological order of events, I doubt that. This is a great film. 10/10
