Melbourne is one of Australia's most popular cities, and has a huge variety of tourist sights, and is an excellent place for the keen shopper.
Melbourne is located in the very South of Australia. The climate is quite warm in summer, and quite cold in winter. Melbourne is well known amougnst Aussies for it's rainy weather but there is no need for that to be a dampener on your visit.
Shopping and Eating in Melbourne is fantastic! The Lygon Street Strip of restaurants provides a large array of appetizers for even the most refined palate. There are also many great shopping malls, such as the Myer Complex and Southbank. For the bargain hunters, the Queen Victoria Markets are a great place to hunt around. The Crown Casino complex provides great shopping, food and entertainment rolled in to one package.
Tourist attractions include the fantastic Melbourne Zoo and the newly constructed Melbourne Museum. You can also catch many musicals and shows at any one of the Melbourne Theatres.
Melbourne is the AFL football capital of Australia and is home to the two major football fields, Colonial Stadium and the MCG. You can also catch World Series Cricket in Melbourne during the summer at the MCG.
The city itself is quite picturesque, with many parks and gardens in the inner city.
Melbourne is a great city to visit and I would recommend it to any travellers, including families and individuals.
