Hi...

Bharathi here...

There are already 4 reviews on this album and i'm sure all of them would be more useful than mine...but frankly, I could not resist my temptation to pen down this one..This album is one of its kind

These days, when film music has become so mediocre...This album stands out distinctly !!! It brings you, the joy of pure music, music at its best, music of different kinds, cultures, all woven together in this one cassette !!!

Well, I guess, enough of this..let me start with the actual review...

The side A starts with....

yeh rishta 8/10

Sung by reena bhardway, this song has already hit the small screens. This piece sort of transforms you to another world...reena's soft voice, the meaningful lyrics, which roughly translated into english mean...what is this relationship called...where the lady brings out her feelings about her love and then wonders what the relation should be called as. The wonderful picturisation of the song, adds beauty to it. The colour blue, which is vividly used in the scenes, complement the song. And the sound of the water, which is heard once in the song, gives you a feeling of actually being in that place.

chinnamma chilakkamma 9/10

Another one, which is being aired on the channels, this song, sung by sukhwindra singh, who has also penned the https://lyrics...is a sure hit

Though nothing too remarkable about the picturisation, the strong vocal cords of sukhwindra singh tempts the listener to sway his/her body to the beats of it. Also note that the all the names which are reeled out by the lady singer, end with ...amma !!!

do kadam 6/10

Sung by sonu nigam, this one is a bit melodious, almost puts you to sleep!!! an average one...could have been better !!!

cyclist's rhythm 9/10

My, what an instrumental bit. With percussions by the renowned Shivamani, this one is a delight to hear ! Starts slowly, gains tempo gradually and leaves you with your hairs all standing up!!! The chimes of the cyclist's bell, which are generously used, add a new dimension to the song. The sudden introduction of the drums, almost startles you. The beats are nothing new to the ppl of south india, who, ironically, hear it, when the dead of a particular community are carried to the funeral !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Side B starts with...

dhuan dhuan 6/10

The first time, I heard this song, I almost thought there was something wrong either with the cassette or the player. It starts with a ..what do I call it?a man?s shivering voice?(Kunal Ganjawala, at his best )only after I heard it over and over, did I realize that It was part of the concept. Sung by Asha Bhonsle with bits from that male vocalist, whose major contribution to the song is ?the shivering bits !! ..this song definitely makes a good hearing.

Rang de 8/10

This song starts with a yawn, literally ! or maybe, its some sort of music by itself. Alka yagnik?s sweet voice is almost honey to the ears. Typical Jaisalmer kind of music, though this song has fast beats, definitely does not raise your blood pressure. Its kind of pleasant to hear this one?One can almost feel the coloursof the song. Rightly goes the lyrics ?colours inspire a song, colours inspire a story, a language.

Btw, the occasional yawns by the other vocalist do not put you off at all.

Potter?s village 7/10

Just like the earlier cyclist?s rhythm, this song, basically uses the sounds of pots. It creates a different kind of feeling, takes you somewhere, touches the Arabian strains and gently brings you back.

And now for the last one?

Noor-un-ala-noor 4/10

In my opinion, this one is slightly lesser than the others. It starts with two singers, trying to outwit the other, in screaming. Sorry folks, qawwali kind of music is not exactly my cup of tea. Rather, I?ll put it this way. I?ve still not learnt to appreciate this kind of music. So, this song does not impress me the least. Also the lyrics, most of them urdu, make it more difficult for me to understand them. Anyways, you cant expect all the songs to be exceptionally good, even in a masterpiece album like this. Kudos to Murtuza Khan and Qadir Khan for singing this song, together.

Altogether, a real musical treat to the ears?

It is said, ?Music has no boundaries?, also music is one thing, which touches each heart in a different way. Each person relates to music in a unique way. It brings out the emotions and feelings of ppl. Perhaps thatz why it is rightly said, music has no boundaries

Cheers,

Bharathi.
