Working in an environment where there are network restrictions can be very frustrating. I work in a office where web chatting is not allowed. As a result I am behind the firewall and cannot download yahoo messenger , msn messenger or google talk. Out IT department is very strict regarding these things. My elder brother works in U.S which constatntly requires me to be online in order to communicate with him. So this led me to search for web based portals on google which support web based chatting. And that is how I came across this life saving website meebo.com. I found two websites one was e - messenger and the other one being meebo. Curiosity got the better of me and I was intrigued by the name meebo. What made the team select such a wierd name. Neways coming back to the main point I am now a regular user of meebo.com
The positive points about this website are :
It is a multi - process website.It allows u to sign in using ur msn , yahoo , aim , google ,jabber & ICQ id's. So u dont require to install multiple messengers like msn , yahoo which will take up more space.
It is very easy to navigate. Just type in ur user id and password and voila there u r chatting wilth ur beloved.
They also have a blog where they discuss common technological problems and also share their current happenings. for eg : First when a contact used to message me I wasnt aware about it , but now whenever a person is trying to msn a sound is played in the background which indicates that someone is trying to talk to me.
It is easily accessible from ur office. All u need is an internet connection. Plus u will go un- noticed by ur boss if ur using meebo.That's the biggest advantage ;-)
It is very beneficial for college students & employees like me who are behind the firewall.
U can also see people who are in the invisible mode.
U can log in with two or more id's at the same time
They also have voice chat
There arent any negative points about this website.Atleast thats wht i've discovered uptil now. It is a user friendly portal.
So all those ppl who are behind the firewall can use this portal to communicate with their near & dear ones.
