This one's for Matwalaboy :)

Group..........:Pink Floyd
Lineup.........: David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Rick Wright
Genre..........:Atmospheric/Psychadelic/Progressive Rock
It works best for diehard pink floyd fans
There must be something about the year 1971. For one, I was born that year heh heh. Anyway, jokes apart, the year saw bands churning out some of their best works. For example, Led Zeppelin released Zoso - their fourth album (which featured Stairway to heaven).
Pink Floyd's Meddle was released in 1971. Although it will never earn the title ''Greatest Work'', Meddle established the foundation for the Pink Floyd sound that was highlighted in The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall.
Meddle marked a transitional era for the band that was breaking out of the Syd Barrett songwriting style and moving into the Waters way.
The Tracks
- One of these days:
99% instrumental song with a crunchy bass sound and keys that cut through. There's only one line of lyric and that goes ''One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces''... (surely, you can think of atleast one person to whom you always wanted to say that)
- A pillow of winds
A real nice folksy song with some dreamy guitars. The lyrics are beautiful too:
A cloud of eiderdown
Draws around me
Softening a sound.
Sleepy time, and I lie,
With my love by my side,
And she's breathing low.
- Fearless
One of my favourite Pink Floyd songs. Beautiful guitars and delightful vocals. I'd buy this record for just this one song. (sure... go ahead... download it... pirate it... and miss out on the other songs! What?? You're going to pirate all the songs?? Shame on you)
- San Tropez
The jazz laden San Tropez is a pretty good listen. The song flows with a pretty good rhythm...
As I reach for a peach
Slide a rind down behind
The sofa in San Tropez
- Seamus
heh heh... this song is MENTAL! Some weird slide guitar sounds and some howling... by Seamus... the hound dog heh heh.... truly mental...
- Echoes
Here's a song that makes it into a best of pink floyd comilation pretty easily. Atmospheric to the core...
Final Cut
Truly experimental material.
If you love Pink Floyd and you can listen to a record without equating it to The Wall or Dark Side Of The Moon... then listen to Meddle. Be Fearless!
If you arent a Pink Floyd fans... there will be parts where you wonder what the h is going on but then... the softer tracks on this record might work for you :)
