My father, Mr. Abdul Muqtadir Choudhury had an incidental detection of left lower polar renal mass. Subsequent CT showed heterogenous enhancing solid globulated mass measuring 55x53mm arising exophytically from the lower pole of left kidney with involvement of lower polar cortex and medulla.
We met a lot of doctors in and around Guwahati, and considered a lot of treatment options in hospitals across the country. Finally we zeroed in on Medanta, keeping in mind the positive reviews that we'd heard about the hospital in the field of robotic surgery, especially robotic nephrectomy.
Dr. Rajiv Yadav explained to us the treatment option and told us that in view of clinically localised renal mass, partial nephrectomy was preferred. We were relieved after this consultation with Dr. Yadav because a majority of doctors in Guwahati had suggested radical nephrectomy.
My father was admitted under Dr. Rajiv Yadav on 5/10/16 at Medanta. We were given a comprehensive overview of the surgery, the possible benefits and complications of the process of admission, the duration of stay, the procedure itself and likely outcomes and complications.
Left Robotic Partial Nephrectomy was done on 6/10/16 under GA by Dr. Yadav. The post-operative period was uneventful and my father started recovering as expected. He was discharged on the morning of 10/10/16 and we stayed in Delhi for two more days before returning to Guwahati on the 14th of October, 2016.
Robotic nephrectomy is something that we did not have much idea about, and we were almost ready for an open/laparoscopic surgery as advised by most doctors in our hometown. We're glad that we finally chose this option over all others. I would recommend partial/radical nephrectomy to anybody who has been suffering from similar health conditions.
We are grateful to Allah that my father is back home today after a successful surgery. We're extremely grateful and thankful to Dr. Rajiv Yadav and his team at Medanta - The Medicity for the exceptional treatment and care provided by them. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them, and wish them greater success.
