Who doesn't know Matrix? You know, the famous film with special effects really breathless....But I don't love it!!

What I definitively prefer is the OST 'cause of many celebrities....Like Marilyn Manson, Fluke, POD or Paul Oakenfold.

I can speak about the mix between hard rock/metal and dance/techno...That's a delight...'cause the genres are fitting with the film so why deny the pleasure?

1) ROCK IS DEAD – Marilyn Manson

THE song of the movie. Who doesn't know Marylin Manson? Here, Brian Warner, the leader, is dressed up with wings.

However, it's not my favourite song. I don't have the same feeling as I listen to the repertory of the band.

2) SPYBREAK ! – Propellerheads

No words. Just mix between guitars and electronics sounds.....Ambiance? Videogame....Yes, it's true, the song is more suited for a videogame than a film. But is Matrix a simple movie or a sort of videogame?

Good sound, however.

3) BAD BLOOD – Ministry

Rock again, no real changes. Same melody from the beginning till the end. Exception: the end.

That kind of music is suited for a snowboard videogame like SSX.

Great song.

4) CLUBBED TO DEATH – Rob D

5 STARS!!! It's a mix between sounds electronics and instruments non electronics. A real great track. The feeling is dramatic, it's just tension...tension till it explodes.

The video clip is showing a man walking like us. But he is living in a world where the normal walk is in the other sense. He runs, far away, he puts the fire on the road. He throws himself on a wall. And he reappears like a giant. He's smiling to a little girl. She's walking like him.

The song is sometime slow sometime walking to the extrem tension.

To listen in priority.

5) PRIME AUDIO SOUP – Meat Beat Manifesto

Odd track, techno and house, not dance/techno.

My ears just say no.

6) LEAVE YOU FAR BEHIND – Lunatic Calm

The first time I heard this song, it was on a videogame, about snowboard. The second time, it was a music from the TV show: Nikita! ( La femme Nikita ). The third time, it was on the Tomb Raider II OST.

Why am I saying that? 'Cause it's one of hell song! Yes, it's a mix between techno, rock, no time to breathe, no time to sleep, it's a speedy thing, it's for an action scene....but a strong one.

The only disadvantage is the short time of the song.....

7) MINDFIELDS – Prodigy

That's not Prodigy, like Breathe....It's just sympatic, techno, banal. Well, I'm very disappointed....

8) DRAGULA – Rob Zombie

First afraid by this song, I found it very fun. Dragulaaaaaaa !!! ( :-) )

Well, the ambiance is techno/rock, the singer's voice non conventionnal and the changing of tempo between the lyrics are very strange and very odd. But it's a great performance.

Say it with me: Draaaguuulaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

9) MY OWN SUMMER – Deftones

Deftones are famous for what they're doing in the hard rock world. But something is strange: the singer is not singing loud....only in the refrain.

Great song, even above Rock is Dead.

I don't really know the Deftones...so......

10) ULTRASONIC SOUND – Hive

Did you remember Bombfunk MC? Freestyler?

This song seems like Freestyler but in less aggressive and more guitars.

Sympatic to listen.

11) LOOK TO YOUR ORB FOR THE WARNING – Monster Magnet

Rock sympatic to listen to. More calm than the other but always on the same speed. That's not Manson or Deftones.

12) DU HAST – Rammstein

The band is very-well know in Europa 'cause they're German and are playing hard rock/metal.

The deep and cavernous voice of the singer, when he begins to sing like a tenor, is very beautiful and the rare electronics accents give to the song a status of hit. It'd be more appropriate for being the main song of the movie.

The guitar give a military tempo, no time for breathing, nothing to add, Rammstein deserves this international recognization. The band is apart from the others with that vision of music.

On the album Mutter, I recommands Links, Ich Will, Mutter, Sonne.

13) WAKE UP – Rage Against The Machine

Guitars? Voice like these of the Beastie Boys? Not really conventionnal for people doing hard rock. Don't love it, it's too...snob....

In conclusion, this OST deserves to be listened 'cause of Du Hast, Clubbed to Death, Dragula, Leave you far behind or others.

For the amators of rock and electronics sounds ....
