I have visited the closest hill station to Mumbai - Matheran known as Mother Forest. This is situated in the sahyadri hills. A railway line was laid in 1907 and a beautiful toy train still playing slowly through hills and forest. Always there is crowds of visitors in weekend days.
There is about 35 sightseeing points but Porcupine point(Sunset point) is most sought after for its spectacular sunset view. Another view point is Hart point, A visitor can see Mumbai in a clear day from Hart point. There is so many buildings of pre-independent era. A must visit place for every travel loving person.
