Matheran is a hill station located very close to Mumbai. I have visited this place multiple times with my friends and family.
Being very close to Kalyan this place is easily accessible. You can take a toy train from Neral station or you can take a cab to reach Matheran.
But the cab will leave you 2 kms before Matheran. This hill station has a unique distinction of being pollution free. To roam across various points one can easily get horses. The only irritating thing is the red soil which you will find all across the place.
My white shoes turned red the first time I went there. There are lot of good places to see here. Sunset point, lake point and echo point being my favourites.
One can enjoy beautiful scenery of waterfall if you visit during Jun to Aug. But during that time the toy train do not run and you will miss it. It is a place I think we should visit to refresh ourselves from the hetic schedule of the city life.
