These days a very HOT topic is-extra-marital affairs. Last week, there was ?Murder? made on the same topic or ?Hawas?, a week before than that. This week also, there is a film which tackles the same subject, but here the married guys are flirting instead of married women, like in the above mentioned films.

The biggest difference in this film, from the other recent releases based on extra-marital affairs is that this film is made with comedy and ?MASTI?, in it.That`s why this film has been given the title of ?Masti?. A very successful filmmaker Indra Kumar whom success has eluded, recently with flops like ?Mann?,?Aashiq?, or ?Rishtey? is back with a bang. Will he repeat his magic again?

THE FILM:

Maruti Films. ?Masti!?, directed by Indra Kumar is a huge multi-starrer which stars Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh, Amrita Rao, Tara Sharma, Genelia D`souza and Lara Dutta. This is a sex-comedy film, about which director Indra Kumar, is dead sure that it will make everyone laugh out loud. Will it really?

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Meet(Vivek Oberoi):Meet is a married guy but he is still the same-a flirt. He has also the same opinion,as his other friends, that if you don`t get pleasure from your wife then seek someone outside your home.Vivek Oberoi is back after a long, long time.He was last seen in a short story in ?Darna Mana Hai?.He suffered a lot because of his accident during ?Yuva?,so his film has relased after about a year. This time,he is very natural and does succeed in comedy.

2.Prem(Aftab Shivdasani):Prem wants one thing from a girl and that is-SEX,but he is the most unfortunate person because his wife is a very simple girl who is all the time busy in worshipping.Aftab Shivdasani,is the best performer, here. Here is a replacement for Govinda. He has already worked in comedy films such as ?Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega?(where he was excellent),and this time again in a comedy film,he is brilliant. His face expressions, comedy timing, all are perfect.Just check him out in the scene, where he gives the idea of an extra-marital affair to his friends.

3.Amar(Ritesh Deshmukh):Amar is a dentist who has the same problem as his friends-he can`t get the pleasure he wants, from his wife.Ritesh Deshmukh,is improving as his films are releasing one after the other. In ?Tujhe Meri Kasam?,he needed improvement,so he improved himself in ?Out Of Control?.Now,in his third film ?Masti?,he is excellent. The way he shows his annoyance towards his wife and the chemistry he shares with the other actors is great. Here is an actor, whose forthcoming releases,we should look forward to.

4.Aanchal:(Amrita Rao):Aanchal is very much dependant on her husband,Meet. She acts more than a baby of Meet, than his wife.Amrita Rao is fantastic in a role which seems tailor made for her.She has a very delicate look on her face and that`s why she looks what she`s playing. These days, she is much in demand. She has many biggies coming her way, like the forthcoming films ?Main Hoon Na? and ?Deewaar?.Way to go!

5.Geeta(Tara Sharma):Geeta,is a complete ?sati-savatri?,who has always one thing in her hand-a bell to worship in ?mandir?.Tara Sharma has a beautiful smile and that`s all about her.She doesn`t know how to act.Her dialogue delivery is also very poor. Now,I understand why Mahesh Bhatt gave her such a small role in the film ?Saaya?.

6.Bindiya(Genelia D`souza):Bindiya is the ?BOSS? of her husband,Amar and that`s why Amar has to be a ?joru ka ghulam?.Genelia D`souza is wonderful,in this film, though it is her second release.I don`t know why and where she disappeared for such a long time. She should get more offers for movies, because she has the ability of acting well and she looks cute, too. Also, she makes a good couple with Ritesh Deshmukh, who was also her debut film co-star in ?Tujhe Meri Kasam?

Of the rest,Ajay Devgan(as Inspector Sikander),is superb. His dialogue delivery, especially in the scene where he warns the three married guys,is excellent. As usual,he acts through his eyes and soft but effective voice, but doesn`t seem to be repetitive.Lara Dutta(as Monica) provides the oomph. She looks gorgeous and sexy, but she also needs some acting lessons.Archana Puran Singh as Bindiya`s mother is hilarious.Satish Shah succeeds to make you laugh.Rakhee Sawant doesn`t get much of a footage and so she will not be noticed, that much as she was noticed in ?Chura Liya Hai Tumne?.

THE STORY:

Someone so easily said-?marriages are made in Heaven?,but is it so?Ask this question to Meet,Prem and Amar. They would simply say a BIG-NO!.How much stressful, life is, after getting married, this, only these 3 guys know, whose experiences with their wives are terrible. If one of them is too dependant on her hubby, then the second one is always busy worshipping, rather than giving her husband some time on?.you know where. If the second one is like this than the third wife is more than an office BOSS,rather than a normal housewife. The three men want only one thing-MASTI(fun) and that`s why they make a plan to seek pleasure outside home. They flirt, they try and never give up trying to get hold of a beautiful and sexy lady, but this TRY, gets them into trouble when they have to face a cop as strict and stone-hearted as Inspector Sikandar. Now, what they started as a plan of having fun, turned in to a mystery, when they get involved in a mysterious case. Now,what will happen of their MASTI?

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Indra Kumar`s direction is first-rate this time. Handling a film which falls into the genre of comedy is quite difficult, that too in Bollywood where most of the comedies turn out to be slapstick comedies, he has done a good job (though this is also a slapstick comedy). Many scenes do bring laughter like the sequences of Satish Shah where he suspects the trio to be homosexuals.
