Indra Kumar, Vivek Oberoi, Ajay Devgan, Aftaab, Lara Dutta, Archana Puran Singh, Ritesh Deshmukh, Satish Shah… I just read the cast under the name of MASTI and expected a lot of fun filled entertainment for the next couple of hours. But alas !!!

I didn’t know that I would be disappointed to such an extent that for the first time in my life I would think of leaving the theatre during the Interval.

The story reveals around three guys who are enjoying their friendship and bachelorhood. The movie starts with one of them (ritesh) getting married the next day. Soon each of them gets married subsequently. And then starts the usual cribbing about the grass that looked greener from the other side but turned out to be an artificial one. They plan a plot and get trapped themselves with usual mis-understandings and a twisty (?) end.

I know I am a bit serious kind of guy when I see movies and expect logical connections even if the movie is a farcical one. Movies like PADOSAN or ANDAAZ APNA APNA have shown that the plot can be woven well around the fun to get more opportunities to sow comedy sequences.

The overall pace and progress of MASTI goes haywire as if Indra Kumar’s basic purpose is to place a bunch of jokes in a row and then just to join them one by one in any haphazard way. One finds at loss to get reasons to many happenings; to site a few :

  1. Why don’t the three friends meet for many months after one gets married ?

  2. They don’t even have a telephonic contact with each other after marriage.

  3. Neither of the later two calls the rest for his marriage. Strange friendship !

  4. What happens to the deadly charm and daring confidence of Vivek (Meet) after marriage ? Something that made every other girl to get trapped in his talk and get carried away till his bedroom?

Well, there are many questions that come to your mind. Only answer to them is “Yaar, you don’t have to apply logic in such movies !!”

I know that, and that’s why I still recommend the movie to people but with a clear warning that don’t go with any expectations and then you might enjoy it more.

The soothing was the choreography especially of ''Nain kuli Ki..'' and ''Yeh Bechara..''

But still a thought remains : ONE COULD HAVE DONE MUCH MUCH BETTER WITH THESE RESOURCES.
