Why you will see Masti:

You have:

  1. Been starved of comedies after Munnabhai MBBS

  2. Had a bad day at office

  3. The ability to suspend your thinking for sometime and go with the flow

  4. A taste for homophobic jokes

Why you will not see Masti:

YOu:

  1. Need to take your parents too along with you for the movie

  2. Have a distaste for double entendres

  3. Keep comparing Bollywood Humor vs Hollywood humor

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

The Story:

It is about three married men (Vivek, Ritesh, Aftab) whose sex life would not be the envy of fishes. Frustrated, they decide to spice up their life by having an extra marital affair. Enter Ms. Lara Dutta to the rescue. Things get complicated thereafter resulting in a murder. The police (Ajay Devgan) suspect the heroes. But is there more to it than meets the eye? Blackmail, goof-ups and a police chase later, all the issues are resolved amicably.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------

So, how HOT is the movie?:

Despite the fact that this is a sex-comedy, there is very

little skin show or steamy scenes. The adult rating is mostly for the double entendres.

Samples:

''Khushi mein hai ke abhi tak khud-khushii kar rahaa hai?''

''Swarg pati ke charanaon mein nahin, usse thoda upar hota hai!''

So, if you are taking kids along for the movie, you will stil be safe. Unless you have a kid like Calvin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

The Performances:

All the heroes are equally good and they share amazing chemistry. Ritesh

is definitely a discovery. His Jim Carrey scenes are done with great flair. The heroines do not have much to do and carry off their bits with ease. Lara Dutta disappoints. Ajay Devgan is adequate.

The best performances come from Satish Shah doing a homophobic Kantaben and Archana Puran Singh.

They raise more laughs than all the heroes combined.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

The Direction:

That Indra Kumar has a flair for comedy has been proved in his earlier

movies. Unfortunately, they meandered into melodramatic fare in the second half. Here, he does no such mistake. Starting from the first frame, he keeps up the laugh-a-minute promise.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------

The Music:

Except for ''Chora Chori'', all the songs are just passable. The picturisation of

the songs leaves a lot to be desired. The song before the climax can be happily cut off.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------

Cinematography, Editing etc:

There are no locales worth talking of as most of the movie has been shot indoors. The editing could have been tighter in places.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------

My Verdict:Although it is highly tempting in such stories to indulge in male chauvinism, Indra Kumar steers clear of it. Despite it's theme, the director sticks to Indian values. Affairs are not allowed to go overboard. Just enough tease to keep one entertained.

The ending could have been a trifle better and more believable.

If you are in a mood for something light, you might find this movie a highly enjoyable experience.
