The Cub of the Lions. Review on Marvan Attapattu

Marvan Attapattu has overcome many obstacles is his international career to emerge as one of Sri Lanka's main batsman.His start to international career was a precarious one with 5 Ducks(zeroes) in 6 innings but today he is one of the main force in Sri Lankan batting and this happened not by fluke but by his effort and will to become a good batsman.He came into spotlight when he became ''Man of the Series'' in the Sharjah triangular tournament

He had to bear the criticism of being dropped from the side in 1990-91 but he realized that making and comeback and making an impact is much more difficult than just making a debut and it made him a strong man.And with his willpower and effort he made a comeback into the Sri Lankan side

With 5 Double Centuries to his name is already in line with Cricket's greats like Sir Don Bradman, Wally Hammand and Javed Miandad.In the Sri Lankan side he passed his first step of success last year when he was appointed the Vice-Captain after Mahela Jaywerdene but the pressure of this job did not affect his batting instead he started performing well.He was able to keep his wicket after a century and he did not lose concentration that's why he was able to slam Double Centuries 5 times.Technical play,attacking style,playing according to the situation are the strong points in his batting

Attapattu was given the tag of failure as a opening batsman.He scored 17 Ducks in 84 Tests while opening.The only fault in his batting is that he cannot face the ''new ball'' but in the 'Middle Order' he showed it that how is important to the Sri Lankan side.His dream is of hitting a ''Triple Century''
