I do love my Zen dearly. Though I must admit that I have had two old flames before my purple passion. I gave up my Ambassador with the high cushions and all (I couldn't see the road without them)for a Maruti Omni. I rode the wild white horse for 6 years when it tossed me into the lap of the gentle Zen.
In 1997 there were few purple cars on the road.I loved making a statement! Most cars were macho. Only the Zen was feminine. The manufacturer for some reason called the colour, Blue-Red or Red-Blue... To me it was and will always be Purple!
It was noiseless, and gentle in contrast with the rattling Omni. It treated me like a lady instead of a matador! The change I think impacted my personality!
I loved the experience of the overdrive. L&T had just made a dream strip on Hosur road. In those days the Mysore road and the Old Madras road were fairly smooth too. On impulse, I would take a detour to zip along. With or without company, overdrive in the Zen was nirvana! Almost five years old and still going strong. She is now a part of the family. Or should I say the family is a part of her!
A lot of people have suggested that I change my car. I don't think I will! To me the Zen is about quiet, powerful, ageless grace and feminine strength!
