I decided to buy a car with a budget of max 4lac, choice Wagon R, Palio, Indica Zeta, Santro and Estilo. I first went for a Palio test drive dazzeled by the stunning looks. My feedback on Palio
Sales person boosted of amazing new technology in palio 1.1 and engine life good price, stunning looks, cozy interiors, brilliant sitting position and a bulky car. When I took the car on the test drive, the car simply refused to speed even thought I had pressed 3/4 of the paddle..
Car simply din't have any punch in driving. It was like I was tourchering the car to speed and car struggled to go fast. It was like lashing an donkey to run like a horse and fact is donkey cannot run like a horse come what may. I asked the sales guy why was this happening and he gave me gyan on the engine technology... Who cares what ever technology it is, The car MUST speed on pressing the paddle .
I was dissapointed with palio 1.1. I decided to test drive Indica Xeta.. Xeta was much better than palio 1.1. Car has good power but the braking isn't good.. and I am fed up looking at variants of Indica with the same old look. High time TATA change the look of the model when introducing new variants. I feel XETA would have triggered huge sales for the price if the look was different and sporty.. any ways thats not in our hands. I was then left with Wagon r, santro, estilo.
I din't like the looks of Wagon R and is a old car. Santro too was old, din't even think of going to santro showroom. that zeroed down to Estilo.
My first impression on looks... hmmm... ah.. not great.. din't like the front portion... I took a test drive and I was amazed with driving pleasure. I got a good discount as well. totoal on road price of 3.75 lacs for LXI model a discount of 30k. I bought the car on my daughter 1st b'day and was pleased with comfort. Interiors are very good especially the dashboards, stunning speedometer. I liked the interriors very much, and I feel estilo as the best interiors in this segment.
The car also has the best power steering in this segment - having driven palio, wagon r, santro, old zen etc... The grear is brilliant and easy to change/shift. Power is amazing and touching 100 + is absolutely easy. Braking is equally brilliant. My hands were itching for a long drive. I then decided a trip to Goa from Bangalore. The feel and experience was brilliant. Fantastic roads.. except for small patches.. good work India... :)) I drive at a constant speed on 120 - 130 for kms together without changing gears.. The car is smooth.. with almost no engine sound.. just a hm....
At a speed of 140-145 the car moved aside and I was taken aback.. ( The wind was fast blowing, the road is baren with acers of land on both the sides, may be that is the reason car was pushed aside at the speed)With AC I had a mileage of about 19-20 on this drive and a city mileage of 15kmpl. I have driven about 4000 kms till date.The car is just extra ordinary.. anyone reading the review and thinking of buying a car please go for estilo.. Superb car.
