I too like many thought that the slogan '' Wagon -R for Smart people '' is only a Add tag line from MUL to attract. But With my experience with Wagon -R for last 16 months I can only acknowledge what they mean by it.
Let me put my views on why it is so. purely based on from a lay user view than from technical point
1) This is the best car for aspiring young people who want to move up the corporate ladder and those agressive buisness men who wants to set new trend.
2) It is suitable for both congested City Rides ( you can call it a glorified Auto coz of the manurability it offers in cramped space) and a pleasureable drive on Highway.
3) In Highway even at Highspeed of 100+ there is no vibration or jerks its goes smooth. You drive anything between 120-125 KM speed over taking those big Cars like Accent or Honda city or Qualis or sumo or scorpios without any diffculty. You can challenge me for that if you are big car owner next time if you see a Montain mist wangon -R zipping ahead of your Car.

4) Mileage of 17KM on Highway without A/C & 15KM with A/C . Indside City without A/C 14KM with A/C - 12 KM. Tips for good mileage even in low speeds drive on top gear even at 30KM speed you can drive at 5th gear !!! Thats the best thing about this car
6) Zero Maintenence Cost for almost 1.5 Years
7) Good Road grip and very efficient brakes
8) Space best sutied for a small family ( Husband Wife 2 kids and parents 2)
9) Real MUV you can make it a mini ambulence in case of emergency ( excatly I did it that way when one of our collegue got injured in an accident & immobolized) or can or you can carry ur Huge Golf bag ( for those Sunday Golf training just to please your boss & make him aware you are also interested in Golf)

Overall a Compact Car which offers value for money
