How would you feel when you know that the guy sitting in front of you has cheated and made a big fool out of you. All of us fall in such situations sometime or the other. But, we ignore it. We have become immune to the systems. My humble request to u all - Please don't do this. Rise and Fight back.

Pals! This review is not so much on the car (Please excuse me coz I could not find a more relevant section to place this write up in)but more on the ordeal that me and my best friend had to go through at the hands of financers, dealers and the company itself. I would request you all to be patient and read this for this can happen to any one of us

It all started on March 24th. After much discussions with friends and family, Gags (My buddy)decided to purchase a Wagon R LXi. So one glorious day we dropped in at Competent Motors, C.P. However, after experiencing a Sales Tax office’s feeling in the way we were treated by the friendly staff, we was out of the showroom in no more than five minutes.

Our second stoppage was Allied Motors. These guys were atleast civilized .We decided to take a loan of Rs. 3 lacs and were offered a discount of Rs. 12000 on the car with an EMI of 6836 after subventing the discount for five years.

On Sunday ie March 24th we decided to check out other deals in the market (Since it is considered to be one of the most competitive market). So after a lot of leg work we managed to find an Angel '' CARCOM'' (Please note this name)- DSA for ABN Amro Bank. and after a marathon discussion with their receptionist to sales executive to director we manage to clinch it at a quote of Rs 6382 for a loan of 3 lacs for five years, after subventing the discount. They got all the necessary documentation done from us and promised to deliver the car on March 28th 2001.

So next day, dancing in high spirits we got the draft, the insurance cover note and 60 cheques (the bank gave us helluva time for that too) ready on the promised date of delivery.

Now the fun starts here - On 28th March after twidling our thumbs for half the day we gave 26 calls to Mr. Mehra (Director)and everytime some obscure woman would either put us on a perpetual hold in a constipated voice or we would be asked to call after 10 minutes.

This continued the next day as well and then finally on 29ht night Gags gets a call from our ANGEL asking us to meet him in at Alliance motors (south delhi)where some Mr Sahani will assist us and get the work done. We swallowed our anger for his juvenile behaviour thinking that we are still on with the deal. But to our horror when we reached there the dealer outrighlty refused to be entertained (as if we were some destitute flesh traders)saying there was no car left (Mind u all this is happening last week of march - towards year ending and every dealer is only seeing green in his eyes...who cares about customers). Then Mr Mehra trots in with an effervescent smile (gosh how much I was dying to sock him off his wits) but we thought we still had a chance till the time he came with a nodding head expressing his helplessness.

Now we were in a limbo... all the other dealers we contacted had put their offers on Time bound case which obviously elapsed by 30th morning. The impending hike in car prices, year closing, depreciation benefits etc all the factors were against us and the only way we could get a car was by suffering a loss of 30,000 Rs

Absence of Mr Smart suit Mehra's apology letter to us was the final straw on camel's back. we decided to approach the BIG DADY (ABN Amro)and beat the #@%$* out of person heading this division. And it was only that we expressed our discontent with some GRACE (he didn't know what hit him)that the guy realised how deep a #$%@# we went through. Thankfully the Bank stood by its principles and called up the Jhonny... within 25 minutes that buster came running to the bank with his executive carrying a Delivery Order....

CAN U ALL DIGEST THAT..I was speechless. Man that was such a pleasent sight. Wow! We apologised and thanked the boss for his support and left the place with a delivery order for a Cool Silver Wagon R Lxi from Agnall motors.

So you all think this is the end of a harrowing tale... well pals read on!

I know u would be restless by now but it DOES NOT STOP HERE...

We again went through a round of harassment...not given the delivery after waiting there for 6 Hrs and not just waiting but PLEADING to be heard. Reason - The colour just got sold!! Oops was already sold (premium paid).... Sorry is what we got for a 3 days and 6 hrs of gruesome harrassment...So our car could only come on 31st.

That did it for us. Gags almost went leaping for the supervisor's neck before their GM came and pacified the situation. The GM heard the entire fairy tale with a passion and decided to be sweet....Promised delivery next day by hook or by crook.. but but but.. Now Gags is on a tangent. He is livid and inconsolable.. does not want to see Maruti logo anywhere.. tempted to burn every single wagon R that is running on the road... You know why....I

Not because he had to go through that rut..but because his feelings and aspirations have been razed beyond repair. Imagine it was to be your first car in good 25 years, Your parents were waiting so anxiously for their second son to buy his first car..HIS OWN CAR, father was so proud that he could not sleep the night before 28th March, Mom could not stop smiling and calling her kitty friends, Brother was so excited that he almost was waiting to cry, Me who was the only one to understand how much a car -just a Car means to him....

Above all IT WAS A DREAM SHATTERED FOR GAGS WHO DECIDED TO BUY A CAR OUT OF HIS OWN SALARIED MONEY THAT HE SAVED AFTER WORKING FOR 3 YEARS... Now who will not be Livid.

I feel so sorry for our companies ..they sometime do not understand that their ignorance can be someone's unimaginale loss. We say with liberalisation and competition customer is more empowered. ''Customer is the King''I can almost kill someone for making this statement in fromt of me. Our companies are miles away from putting the reigns in her hands.. but one day they will have to submit....guess that is when Gags will think of buying a Car
