My decision to buy Wagon-R was basically due to my perception that the Japanese cars are the best in the world and I wanted a Tall-boy design car. Now it is almost 2.5 years since I bought Wagon R and I can say from experience that the car did not give me any trouble. There was only one minor problem - Engine oil leak due to faulty gasket or uneven tightening of the screws. This was rectified during one of the free service.
My likes about the Wagon R:
a) Front looks
b) Railings on the top
c) Reclining seats at the back
d) Luggage space at the rear & provision for folding the rear seats.
e) Decent AC power.
f) Well thought out utility areas -
g) Touches 140 KMPH Max during by Bangalore - Chennai.
h) Big & Wide windows for good outside view.
i) Fairly decent driving experience.
My Dislikes about Wagon R:
a) The Rear looks
b) Ground clearance is not good enough for Indian rural roads = Had tough time while driving from Karnataka -> Kerala. Now Bangalore roads are in pretty bad shape as well.
c) Noticeable drag on the engine power while turning on the AC. BTW, this is not the case if you are cruising at speeds above 50 KMPH.
d) The way I was conned by the dealer/salesman on the goodies promised for my car.
e) coin holder near the handbrakes. one or two 1 Re coin slipped between the gaps of the handbrake lever and the platform. Not sure whether they will get jammed or have fallen off on the road during driving.
g) The leather steering cover that comes as standard for the Vxi model. Now (after 2.5 years), the top layer is coming peeling off leaving exposed some foam kind of material underneath.
Overall, I wish to say I am happy with this car and would recommend WagonR if you want to buy a tall boy design car.
