Sincere appologies, coz rather than writing a review, Am asking opinion from other members out here.

Following were my requirements

Price range: < 4, 20, 000

Comfortable driving position, as in good leg and head room (as I am 6 feet tall with a huge build)

Should accomodate 5 people ( with medium built)

Good Boot space

Good suspension

Noise free cabin.

I wouldnt be driving more than 500 - 600 Km in a month,

Good dealer & good after sales

Decent power to run on AC in city driving condition.

Good mileage

Long distance trip for say once in 2 or 3 months.

I was quite skeptical in the begining to go for a diesel vehicle. Obvious choice for my price range was an Indica. But somehow I felt Indica has some drawbacks and any diesel engine wud start making ugly noises after 3 or 4 years and huge money flow on  maintanance compared to petrol, so whatever I would have saved in running cost would compensate slowly in maintenance.

So ruled out Indica.

For sales/ after sales service I thought maruti has a better network than any other car maker, Now the next step was to find a suitable model for my requirement.

I initially went on to buy a wagon R duo, but after giving a second thought about the number of km's I drive in a month and losing out on the boot space, I thought an extra 30, 000 for the duo would be a huge investment. Also some how I feel its dangerous if ur car is involved in a crash. LPG is no doubt much dangerous than petrol.

My other choice was for the Zen Estilo Lxi.I happened to drive one of our relatives estilo on couple of instance, though I liked the interiors, I wasnt that happy with the visibility. the split front window (which people call as safety window) was obstructing the view and I found it quite irritating in cross roads. I feel etilo looks quite girlish (but would look good if u modify). Having said that I dont think there is any difference between performance of an Estilo and a wagon R as both come with a 1.1L/ 64 Bhp engine. But Estilo comes with a front disc brake & front power windows for an LXi version for a price of 5, 000 less than wagon R LXi.

I was only left with Wagon R. As per the quotation, on road price would come up to 4, 10, 000 (Lxi)and maruti will waive off your 1st premium of insurance for this vehicle, so wud effectively pay 4 lakh.

The sales executive was talking about increase in road tax very soon ( in 2 or 3 days), am not sure about that & also the new 2008 models would cost 2% more as the steel rates have increased.

People, please let me know if its true.

So I went ahead and booked a Wagon R Lxi yesterday. I know Maruiti would phase out their wagon R models and would bring in the all new Splash by end of this year.

Now following are my questions

For my requirements have I made a good choice ?( I am not talking about santro, coz I have got bored driving my friends vehicle for quite sometime )

I am getting a 2007 make, but 2008 registered vehicle, will that affect in resale?

When wagon R is phased out, will it affect  anyway for spares & service?

Will I lose out on resale value when its phased out?

Is wagon R low on mileage compared to other petrol car in its segment?

Is Estilo better than wagon R?

Will a K&N air filters improve the performance?

Hope you guys share in your thoughts on this. Anyways am all exited to get my car by next week and would take pleasure to add 1 more burden on to already conjectured Bangalore roads.. :)

Cheers!!

Vikram
