I was planning to write a review for a long time for my car Wagon R Duo. I bought it in Dec'2006 and have driven it more then 20, 000 Km now. I think I can provide you guys a genuine guidence if you are planning to buy a car. I will divide my review in certain categories so that it doesnt get confusing:-

  1. Reason for buying this Car: I travel approx 100 km per day on an average. I had a Santro previously, very good car, I covered more then 75, 000 Km using it and it never gave any problem and provided good milage. Inspite of good milage, high petrol prices pinched me a lot. I was planning to buy a new car which uses cheap fuel as compared to petrol. Options were Diesel(Indica) and LPG(Wagon R). I opted for Wagon R as petrol engines are more refined and service interval in 10, 000 Km then that of diesel(5000 km). I could have bought bew Santro but if I would have fitted it with gas kit then it would have affected its warranty.

  2. Dealer/Service station: I bought it from Jaipur, KP Automotives. No discounts were given as there was one month booking on the car. They tried hard to convince me to buy petrol wagon r ignoring my requirements but I was clear in terms of my requirement. If I have to buy a petrol car then why I will buy Maruti?

They even said that Maruti has discontinued the Wagon R duo for the time being as there is some technical fault in the car. I was surprised and I told them ok, give me the refund and a letter stating the reason of cancellation of my booking. They immediately changed there stance and gave me the delivery date of my wagon r duo. Its funny and very unprofessional.

Delivery was quite good. Car was ready at the said time with box of sweets and a photo. I appreciate it. Regarding Service  I will say just growing the network of service stations never helps. Its the quality of workmanship which is important. and serveral of maruti service stations lack it and they dont even do the required jobs of cleaning spark clugs of the car in regular service. And in case of Duo if water has seaped into the spark plugs during washing and if they dont clean them afterwards then there are small to medium blast sounds from engine if you are running on gas.

I have exprienced it and complained to Maruti as well but nothing happened. It was a fault in service. Although it was immediately rectified when I went to service station again but why it happened? Why not the first time spark plugs were cleaned. On one of the occasions passers by stopped by me on hearing such a large thud. I was afraind too.

  1. Feedback on regular usage of car: Overall its a average transport solution with us saving some money at the cost of comfort, build quality and all above things. I have completed 20000 Km so I can say I have saved some Rs 20000 on fuel. Seats are not comfortable for long distance travel specially the rear seats which I think were designed for kids rather then elder people. My parents and wife complain a lot about it. Build quality is below average. Its pieace of thin sheet...thats it. So drive safely. Drive of car is smooth. Avg with AC 12-13 Km/l  without AC 14-15 Km/l.
