“Maruti Wagon R – LX Duo” - A good Car to buy. Review on Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Duo

After reading a few reviews on mouthshut.com and discussing with few friends, I have purchased “Maruti Wagon R – LX Duo” model for Rs.3.62 lacs on Road Price(date of purchase 27.06.2010) from varun motors, Hyderabad. I would like to share my experience, so that other customers can be benefited from my experience. The price or package includes the cost of registration with RTA, number plate, foot mats, mud flaps.

The vehicle is very good when it comes to leg space, ground clearance, elevation, road visibility and seating. The steering is non-power, but very comfortable and subsequent to reading various journals on steering, what I understood is power steering is required when driving on highways and the driving speed is above 50 kmph. For driving at 40-50 kmph in city roads, ordinary steering is fine and comfortable.

The mileage appears to be good, as I have not yet observed that. We have driven the car both on petrol and gas and the pickup is good. The service for the first month is also completed and I was charged Rs.1, 108/- for changing engine oil. On first service, as advised by my colleague we also got anti rust coating done at the bottom of car which cost me Rs.1, 900/- with five years of warranty.

During the purchase of car what I have observed is, you will be initially approached by one sales agent and subsequently after some negotiations, there will be sudden change in contact person on the pretext of one or the other. In my case, the new sales agent told me that earlier sales agent has left the Company. Further the sales agents never tell the additional facilities given by the Company free of cost. It is always advised that negotiation with sales representative should be done only thorough emails, so that theses emails can be used to get the things delivered.

In my case, I was first approached by Mr. Balakrishna, Varum Motors, Begumpet Showroom. After few negotiations with him, I was unable to make my mind and was looking for alternate car – santor gls. Subsequently after two weeks I was approached by Mr. Vijay Kumar, team leader and Mr. Yashwanth, Sales Representative, from Banjara Hills Showroom. We could settle the deal at Rs.3.62 lacs. Fortunately a day before the delivery, I went to showroom to look the car along with one of my friend, who enquired about anti scratch or lamination coat to avoid scratches on the surface of the car, which the Company provides free of cost, at the time of delivery. The most amazing fact is that this was not revealed at any time of negotiation or prior to delivery. However, it was done on demand. Examine the quality of foot mats, mud flaps, etc personally, as subsequently; you might be delivered with some thing different from what you are expecting.

The employees at service station were very good and were taking good care of customers and delivered the car on time with proper cleaning and polishing.

At the time of registration of vehicle the RTA executives of varum motor were good in coordinating and assisted in registering the vehicle on the appointed day. The registration was completed within twenty minutes. However, ensure to collect your number plate and acknowledgment card from RTA desk at varun motors on time and carry the acknowledge challan with the car.

Till now the overall experience with car and varum motors are satisfactory. The next service is due either on completion of 5000 kms or six months, which ever is earlier.

The car is very good for cities where you need to drive in small lanes, traffic jams are common and parking at shopping centres is very difficult. The availability of spare parts in the market is good. The service centres and mechanic outlets are adequate at Hyderabad or in any major cities. The local mechanics are well versed with cars manufactured by maruti and can be repaired easily, if required.
