I bought Maruti Suzuki WagonR - VXI in 2011 in Mumbai. After lot a inquiry and discussions with the experts, I bought this car. To this day, I have not regretted my decision.
It is an excellent family vehicle with comfortable ride for my kids.
Following are the pros.
Pickup is excellent when AC turned off.
Engine is very smooth and sometimes doesn't feel like its on when u r sitting inside.
Leg space is enough. I am 5.11 and never had any problems siting inside and stretching legs. Never had back ache in WagonR. I had Alto and always had back ache after long drive.
Back seat is also very comfortable and has enough leg space and decent luggage room.
Power Steering is very easy to maneuver on narrow roads in Mumbai and Pune.
Fuel efficient. I get 18 KMPL.
Now these are the Cons.
1st gear is never smooth. It always stuck and then after 2nd try, it will fall properly.
AC is not powerful at the Backside. Always have to keep it on 2\3 position before reducing it to 1 to save the front row people.
Pick up is horrible when AC turned on.
Power windows are slow while coming up and going down.
Breaks not efficient when in emergency. I think ABS could be providing that feature. What I normally do is to press clutch 2-3 times and then apply break which immediately reduces the speed and hits the break effectively than just keep the breaks pressed which does not apply as effectively.
In all, I really feel that WagonR is the one of the best family hatch back car with affordable price.
Here my tips -
if your dealer is giving accessories like steering cover, mud mats, floor covers then please take it. Even if he's not giving it then there are several vendors who would fix these for you.
Keep the Windows closed or keep a narrow opening just to let the fresh air in. This way you would not feel tiredness after long drive.
When not required, turn the AC off.
Keep the interiors clean and dust free.
Do not immediately start the AC, drive for some distance and then turn the AC on.
Ensure that wiring and other components are intact and not bitten by rats.
Follow a regular service schedule and record the dates and KM figure on your diary.
Once in 2 weeks, check the Air pressure. Check the air pressure regularly if you are regularly driving 30-40 KMs.
If your car is driven by multiple persons then ensure that you are aware of their driving habits.(clutch, breaking, hand break, lights usage etc).
