Bought a new swift diesel Ldi around 2 weeks back. My previous car was a maruti 800, and I had previously decided to go for a zen estilo. But thanks to my sensible friends who suggested swift diesel apart from the fact that I drive around 50 km a day I decided about buying swift.my calculation was that EMI(zen estilo) plus petrol costs per month would be more or less equal to EMI(swift diesel) plus diesel costs per month assuming monthly mileage to be around 1500 km.Maruti suzuki says "diesel rocks" and quite a few automobile magazines have given rave reviews and I should accept they are close to telling the truth.

What impressed me about the car is that it can go at 30kmph in the city or gobble up highway traffic at 120 km per hour with equal ease attributable to the fantastic engine coupled with a nice steering and good body control at high speeds. There is a mild lag in pickup as you press the accelerator but once speed picks up it becomes a diesel rocket. It almost begs you to drive fast when you are in a mood to do so on open roads.AC cooled more than adequately on a hot midafternoon chennai summer day. There are a few minor rattles here and there which I hope will be sorted out at first service.

One peculiar problem in a few instances which I noticed was that even when the foot is lifted off from the throttle pedal the vehicle continues to move on as if it has a brain on its own. it has already been pointed out by another mouthshut member.Have driven 900 km till now.mileage is around 14 km per litre of diesel with AC never off.sales man says it will improve after first service.shall tell you mileage in later reportIf you really love driving and dont need a spacious boot go for it without second thoughts.

You will never regret itREVIEWED 28/6/2007now my swift is giving me 15 kmpl under all sorts of driving conditions in chennai.I have driven 1800 km on the first month.the fuel cost is just Rupees 2 . 25 per km and for this alone justifies owning oneREVIEWED 22/5/2008one year and a fantastic ownership experience and TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND KM completedcity, town, villages, mountains, expessways you can be comfortable in all these placesmore importantly you will be less worried of fuel price hike.

Still giving 15 kmpl of diesel.no specific problems except minor rattles.probably one of the best decisions in my life buying this lovely vehiclemy brother has a petrol swift but never will I exchange mine because driving experience is definetely better with diesel engineREVIEWED 09/05/2009now I have completed 54, 000 kmstill giving me 15 km per ltre of dieselchanged tyres to brigestone turanza 185/70 R 14 each tyre costing Rs 3200

I will recommend everyone to do so especially if u drive a lot on highways because the improvement in road grip is significant. now I do take on highway curves at 100 km plus speeds with a certain level of confidence. The bulbous design of this vehicle does invite scratches and dents .otherwise no unusual or unexpected maintanence expensesHead lights inadequate for night time highway driving. will change them soon
