After clocking nearly 1, 10, 000 kms on my June 2008 Suzuki Swift VDI, I must say this car is a legendary car manufactured by Maruti Suzuki. WHAT A CAR IT IS. WOW.

The strongest point of this car is good ride quality, excellent handling and control, reliability and  fantastic Fiat DDIS diesel engine. I serviced my car Mandovi Motors, Mangalore, an authorized service center as per schedule, that is every 10, 000 kms. I have spent at an average of Rs.5, 000 at each normal service, excluding cost of some major parts, battery, tyre.

At 40, 000km the fuel sensor failed, at 50, 000 the clock and temp. sensor failed, at 70, 000 a glow sensor failed, at 30, 000km fog lamp switch failed, at 60, 000km the gearshift cable assembly broke, at 50, 000km one shock absorber was replaced. All these repairs were carried out under the 4 year warranty period which saved me lot of money. However none of these failures gave me any problem on road, except the gearshift cable problem I was unable to put reverse and first gear. I replaced clutch, brake pad and brake lining at 70, 000 km. I have replaced battery once and tyres thrice. At 1, 00, 000 km I had problem of brake caliper sound and one bearing of rear wheel was replaced.

I got an average fuel economy of 14.5kmpl with A/C. I did not do carbon cleaning at 80, 000km and timing belt replacement at 90, 000km since I did not face any problem. So how was the car after 1, 09 000km. It was running almost like a new car, with same power and same fuel efficiency. Engine noise might have increased marginally. I always felt confident with the car when I drove and truly Japanese make reliable cars.

Though the spare cost was not high the quality of some pares were not good, which is bit of a let down. The bumper of the car has very weak joints and breaks easily for minor blows. The labor cost at the service center was very high. I am not sure if its uniform all over the country or only to this service center. The number of swifts on road and the high resale value speaks for itself that how good is this car.

I am more than satisfied with this car and would recommend this car for long use.
