I write here to share my experience of owning a dream car in Maruti Swift. To tell you honestly, we had made our mind to buy a small car viz Zen/Santro/Wagon R etc. I went to the Maruti dealer for a test drive. There my eyes set on this car standing there proud and dignified. It was not in my budget - well the budget I had fixed for my purchase. I still could not resist taking a look at it. I sat in it and was completely mesmerized by its sleek interiors that give you a luxury feel. The car is so spacious and the seats are so comfortable.
I have found no other car with the same comfort till date. We all had an instant liking for the car. After returning home we discussed and decided that it would only be sensible to spend a little more to get a World Class product than to settle for something mediocre. And here I am - a satisfied and loyal owner of my SWIFT Vxi.
Let us compare some of the features that it offers with products in its same class(Getz, UVA, FABIA etc).
The car gives an extremely robust and sturdy look making you feel totally secure in it. The built is solid.
The looks of the car are extremely attractive - just irresistible. It looks very stylish yet sleek.
The interiors are very sauve and sober. It is no less than luxury
The mileage of the car is quite satisfactory - it gives me 14km easily
The AC is extremely powerful and effective. The persons in the rear get unhindered air from the AC vents. Many a time I need to lower the cooling to make it soothing
The pickup is sweet! The car sails in its 5th gear. Even with AC on, it is a delight.
The seats of the car are very comfortable - no other car has made me feel so - be it UVA, Getz or FABIA.
The car offers ample leg space and the width of the car makes it even more spacious and feel like a "big car"
The gear box is very smooth and easily manouverable
The power steering makes it very convenient to handle the car.
One minor thing - but very helpful is - Maruti products have the indicator switch at the right side of the stearing. This is very useful while driving and more convenient. It is natural instinct to use the right hand for this purpose and so makes sense to have it there. Others like UVA have it on the left side which is extremely inconvenient to operate. You need to take your hand off the gear box to give the signal. While being on the right hand side in Maruti, you need not take your hand off the stearing.
Maruti products come with an IMMOBILIZER. The car wont start with any other duplicate key. Only original computerised key provided with the car can be used.
Maruti gives you 3 services free in the first year of purchase - first after 1 month, second after 6 months and the third after another 6 months. Others like FABIA will give it only at the end of the first year or 10000 kms.
The Maruti service is immpecable. The car is in safe hands with the authorised service centers. They offer to hand pick the car from your door step too.
The ride is extremely smooth and you never feel exhausted or tired driving even in he irritating traffic jams - as you have the comfort of a world class product with you.
The costing of the car is unbelivably competitive considering the features, comfort and service that it offers.
Some people do argue about the long wait of 2 months. Well, its worth it! I would suggest - dont sell your old cars until you get the delivery. Book your car, forget about it for 2 months, but then you get a product unmatched in its class.
The one drawback I must mention here in all fairness is the visibility. I would have to accept that SWIFT has a little problem with less visibility in the rear and sides when drivng. But you feel this problem for the first few weeks. After that you get used to it and also you get the knack of how to manouver the car. Initially it can feel a little difficult.
So, thats my experience of my car. Shall write more later as I have more to share.
Let me add a little "Star" Value to the car. Amongst the known people to won a Swift include -Ajay Devgan and Minisha Lamba amongst others - I quote this from a Delhi Times article published on Hatchbacks. Also, do you know what the Indian Idol 3 winner Prashant Tamang had to say when asked about his dream car? No prizes for guessing - he says its a SWIFT, ironically he won a SX4 on winning Indian Idol.
