I really do not know why people love the swift car so much. Every second car on the road is a swift vehicle. I used to love this vehicle when I was an onlooker. I had decided to buy this car mainly because of the mileage and cheaper spare parts. The minute I became the proud owner I was very upset with my vehicle.
The ride from the showroom to my office was a very pathetic drive. All my enthusiasm died down when I sat on the wheel. I felt like parking my car someplace and take a rickshaw to my office. All this after paying Rs.5.12 lakhs. The interior of this vehicle sucks. At least Maruti could have given more care while designing the interiors. The dashboard looks drab and feels like plastic. You don’t get a luxurious feel, might as well spend another 60K and get a better car.
Coming to the ride quality, pickup is bad ACTUALLY WORSE. You have to give more pressure on the accelerator to make it move. When the car slows down and you have to change to a lower gear the engine just stops, AC is not at all powerful especially for people sitting in the rear seat. Also, the AC makes noise when you put it on(like in old cars). Once this car ages I am sure this would make a huge noise specially when the vehicle is in idle position.
I own two more vehicles -Ford Fiesta and Palio. I found the ride quality in both these much more better as compared to a Swift. The pick up is great in both the cars and more important is the sturdiness of the vehicle. The Swift makes a rattling sound when you are on bad roads. I am yet to know on the mileage though.
I should have checked for more options before finalizing this one. Anyways, an expensive mistake like this cannot be rectified so soon …
It’s still be ok to be an Indian …. But one should take care and apply one’s mind while buying a CAR.
