Hi Friends,
Just came from the launch of the Swift. Thought I would share my experiences with you guys.
In the flesh, the swift is simply a STUNNER, except maybe in black since that colour does not bring out the subtleties in the design of the swift.
The interiors of the Swift are a bit of a let down in the sense that the stereo in the top end version is a bolt on unit, as opposed to the integrated unit in International markets.(guess the accountants won here). But full marks to Maruti for not being miserly on kit this time round. The middle VXI version is very well equipped (IMHO, this will be the best seller), but the Top range ZXI comes with all the bells and whistles_ABS, EBD, Twin Airbags, Automatic Aircon-u name it and its got it.
Interior space is not as generous as say an Indica or a Getz. I would say more like an enlarged Wagon R. But I dont think this will be too much of an issue.
One SERIOUS grouse I have with Maruti is their tyre choice, 165/80 R14s are too thin and high profile for a sporty car. The ZXi is better having 185/70 R14s.
Finally, the pricing. THis is the Killer man and the VXi at 4.05 l. is a bloody steal. why would anyone buy an esteem now? The Zxi at 4.87 may appear pricey but believe me, for the equipment it has, this is also a steal.
So all I can say is that the King is back with a bang.....Hyundai beware. this will not only finish your getz, but also a santro buyer should give the swift a long and hard look.
