MARUTI SWIFT
I have to buy a new car. My Santro LE has given me great service the last five years, But now every two months or so I spend a packet on changing tyres, batteries, silencers, suspensions, tie rods, you name a part and I end up spending money like crazy. Besides, Hundai sells cars cheap but skin you on spares.
THE SWIFT
MNC123 wrote a very exciting review on the Swift . Reading his review accelerated my heartbeat rpm to 160/minute. My BP shot up. Adrenal was shooting like crazy. I downed a Smirnoff to calm my nerves. He writes well and exciting too, this dude mnc123. And my friend Traveller drives this huge haathi the Mahindra Scorpio. These guys are hot on wheels! Believe me.
Next day I went to the fastest I-net café in town and logged on to htpp//:marutiswift.com
This site is simply amazing! You can get inside the car, you can rotate the car, get under the car (kidding), check out anything you want. Wish they had provided for virtual driving this car! Hey mnc, that’s an idea. Can they provide for this feature of virtual driving the Swift, like a gaming programme rooted in reality? With big speakers to hear the roar of the engines, turning around 180 degrees brakes screaming and stuff like that?
I posted a “Want to buy this car” order to Maruti on this web site.. Surprise surprise, I got a call from Maruti Delhi. The man said the car will come to my door steps for a test drive!
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE SWIFT
- The pricing is simply AMAZING for the technology of this car. Just yesterday they said the Swift will cost Rs 3.90/4.10 lakhs for the Lxi/one step up variant!
That kills the high end Santro Zing and buries the Getz effectively!
Hail Maruti, Meraa Bharaat Mahaan! Down down foreign cars!!
The car is about 85 % indigenous for components, which means cheap spares after 3 years, quite unlike the Hundai cars. The styling is super, the colors eye pleasing.
Technology wise Swift scores over the Getz, the Zing, the Palio and whatever else there is in the market. Horribly, Swift also kills Maruti’s very own Zen, Esteem and Wagon R!
Will Maruti add on free insurance, one gold coin and goodies like that? Doubtful. They have 25,000 hard bookings (cash deposited) for the Swift. I have no cash to put down, just a massive desire to buy this car. God, my hands are shaking as I write this review.
SPIN OFFS: BIG GAINS FOR BUYERS BIG LOSSES FOR OTHER CAR SELLERS
Just watch, over the next few weeks the Santro Xing will be priced to gutter levels of say 2.8 lakhs, with free this and free that and a free male/female Korean caddy for 3 years to carry my Golf bags! The Getz will get drowned in the River Yaabaa in Korea at about Rs 3.4 lakhs or so. Actually if that happens I will buy the Xing. Make no mistakes the Xing is a smashing car at Rs 2.8 lakhs!.

I have promised her the SWIFT on or before her 50th birthday, 16 October 2005!
