In March I sold my Fiat Uno 1.2L and was now looking for a Diesel car because I drive around 60km everyday.LPG was not an option as it is unable give good performace on highway and eats away the boot space.

I checked three options Verna Diesel, Indica Dicor and Swift DDIS.

Out of this Swift DDiS  best fit my requirement and the diesel engine atleast in the demo

car didn't make a sound like Indica, it was as silent as the petrol, but was powerful having a turbo charge .

I purchased a Swift LDi azerus Grey on 21st march 2007.

LDi because I don't like the electronic windows and stuff and didn't want to pay up for the fancy things.

Also it was the only option available at the time off the shelf.

When I compared to the build quality of UNO Maruti needs to do a lot on that front.

The car engine beifgn fiat is great, but there are few things which I would like to point out despite very good reviws in the papers.

The suspension of Swift is too hard for even Mumbai roads, small potholes and bumps are amplified as if there are no shocks.

When you break at high speed the  car tends to wable and  loose control so wait for the  abs version as the engine is heavier than petrol the centre of gravity  shifts to the front  causing it to become unruly on  breaking .

Intitally when driving on highway at 60kmph, on encountring a small uneven surface I could feel the rear of the car bouncing evry where and I would feel loss of stability.

In my Uno I have taken the car to 100 with out an effort and stability was amazing in the bends & on road, but in swift I have to be very careful at 60.! it feels llike it's going to slide away like a carom coin.

Coming to engine, the engine is great, but it started to make sound itermetentatly.

Marut Promised to fix it . I sent it to the delaer but now it make s sound like an Indica.

I am sending it back again to get it fixed. will keep u all updated about the development.

The suspension makes noise and the body has started squeking after aabout 3000km.

Rear visibiity  is poor, but u will get used to it after a couple of drives and a few dents.

But the good part is the mileage. After my first service I am getting 17 kmpl with / without ac

In the city traffic I switch the ac off but on highway I have the ac on.

On the whole I expected this car to be an upgrade to my UNO stds but it really doesn't.

I didn't have a single issue for 3 years in the uno
