I'll 1st make myself clear.....i'm not a maruti agent or against tata motors or against any1.....i've a Swift Dzire LDi purchased frm Mandovi motors Bangalore a year back. Car has been driven 19, 000 kms so far.
WHY SWIFT DZIRE:
My budget was under 6.50 lacs so sedans wic i'd Zeroed on were:
logan
Manza
Dzire
4 Linea
Maruti scores way ahead of any of its competitors. Sad part is there is a wait period of 4 months.
I'l tel u in brief why I selected Dzire.
1st I drive 100 km or so daily.....so needed a diesel vehicle
2nd I drive usually on highways, visit small towns.....maruti can be fixed anywhere.....compared to other 3
3rd I wanted a car with minimal working cost.....its very cheap servicing a maruti....compared to others.
4th Good resale value.
I did an extensive research b4 buying car for atleast 3 months. Test drove all above cars....both diesel n petrol.....just dint jump n buy it...After all Mahanat ka paisa hai......
Linea only looks good......TATS ALL......nothing else....its way underpowered and worst part is tat TATA managing the after sales service.....so it will only get worse.
I agree if u say tat both manza and logan way ahead in space......no doubts in tat...both have better leg room, more boot space......But i've had a Tata sierra b4.....i'l never make tat dreadful mistake again of buyin frm Tata.....its like buying a WHITE ELEPHANT....logan servicing marginally better....but maruti is the best as far as servicing goes.....They treat u like a king....each n every minute prob is carefully sorted.....This is my 1st car frm maruti.....its taken me so long to learn...anyway bettersooner tan later.
A word of advice about the Manza .......its a great vehicle......but dont fall for free add ons this car offers.........tata manza comes with bluetooth enabled stereo wic is great for the price..( sad part the car in wic I took a test drive it wasnt workg, , , tat sums up poor state of tata service wen they cant even provide a fully functional TD car, , , , wat can u expect frm their service) the gears also are not sleek, the diesel engine thou its the same it feels way underpowered....u can forget about cutting those irritating trucks on the highway or zooming at the signal...1 place the manza really impressed me was the rear seating.....very comfortable....tata was got the recline angle spot on......u have to give them credit for tat...rear seating is defi more comfortable than the dzire......BUT I WILL NEVER MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN>>>>>>> TATA SERVICE SUCKS BIG TIME.....U CAN FORGET ABOUT HIGHWAY BREAKDOWN SERVICE...NOW THEY SAYG THEY"ll ATTEND UR CAR IN 2 HOURS ANYWHERE>>>..U CAN FORGET TAT///......Its so sad, , , , , cos otherwise the manza is a good car.............ALSO tata vehicles have a very bad resale value, nothing like maruti
Coming to Swift Dzire.....
I' ve tested both cars Diesel as well as New K series petrol recently.
Both are excellent......forget the crap about low power......or anything.....both are mighty powerful. you may not win a grand prix but trust me u can easily cut those annoying trucks n autos at will...Top speed of Both is 170 kmph ....wat more do u want for under 6.50 lacs????
The K series petrol scores better tan its predecessor......its fast....
I've driven my Dzire Ldi upto 160kmph....it can b pushed to 170 kmph.
WHICH CAR SOD U GET DIESEL OR PETROL?
forget wat sales man at dealership says.......a salesman recently told me petrol car is not as good as diesel........utter nonsense. Another salesman said tat petrol swift does not have a good resale value....dont fall for this crap talk...The salesman just wants u to buy diesel variant andcough upthe premium for it...............DONT FALL FOR THIS GIMMICK.
ITS CLEAR AND SIMPLE =>
If u drive less than 10, 000 km a year....shut ur eyes buy a petrol dzire
if u drive more than 10, 000 km a yr.....then u need a diesel
Riding comfort: good.....
Its got a good ground clearance.....i routinely do long trips where roads are bad...like d trip to mangalore wic has pathetic roads.....it quite easily negiotated the pot holes, , , , speed breakers...
Engine:no vibration in the cabin....SILENT.
Gear box: MASKE KE JAISA HAI.....it slides wit one finger.
Steering: Very Responsive, very precise.
Power:V good.....i did the mysore to ooty via 36 hair pin bends with ease.....
Top speed of 170 kmph...i've touched 160 kmph on madurai toll express road.
Space.....not tat great...front its good.
But Rear leg room is just ok...not as much as manza or logan.
Boot space is ok......3 suitcases fit with ease.
Tyres.....ok...u can put broader ones.....mileage will drrop at the expense of better road grip....i dont think its needed.
If u can afford...spend on alloys......me...im happy with company wheels....alloys r a headache if u have a flat tyre in som of our small towns or villages.....u cant get it fixed easily.
Mileage:i get 19 km/l for my diesel Dzire in city wit ac.....for the New k series petro; u sod get atleast 15 kmpl in city.....ofcourse if u willing to shell out exra bucks more for Shell.....u'l defi get a km/l more.
servicing:.....excellent....no comparision.....service network extremely good. parts are cheap....mechanics know d job.......even in remote places....
I purchased Ldi for 6.40 lacs in bangalore....spent another 15k for putting fog lights, remote locking, n seat covers.....put fog lightsfrom maruti.....quality much better than outside shops.
I dont use power windows......as I had a bad experience of a window getting jammed one night in my Tata sierra .Buy Vdi or vxi if u can spend extra.
AC: Very good.
The Automatic climate control is just crazy a gizmo if u've extra cash......trust me u dont need it.
NOW MOST IMPORTANT......pls never drive above 120 kmph....braking is bad......i've had a couple of very close saves.......below 100 kmph braking is good......i dont no if ABS makes any difference though....... I HOPE SOMEONE AT MARUTI READS THIS AND DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THE BRAKES>>>>
i recently tried driving the test drive vehicle, a swift Dzire zxi with ABS above 120 kmph.......but the salesman got cold feet....and I cod manage just 100kmph, , , hence failed to check effectiveness of ABS brakes,
