Finally, I have decided to write a review on MouthShut.com. Trust me, I’ve gained a lot from the experiences shared by so many people on this platform. Now, I feel that I should also contribute by writing about my experience of buying/driving Maruti Swift Dzire Diesel (VDi).

  1. Initial thoughts before even buying the car: Looks are not that great...is it just an extension of Swift? does it make sense to buy a diesel car? When anyway, I am thinking of buying a big/sedan, why not go for other companies (Honda, Hyundai and so on)?

  2. First day: Man, here comes the day when I get the delivery of the car. I drove and within seconds I realised it ain’t JUST an extension of Maruti Swift. It had so much more to offer. Now specifics: (a) Engine. You get good pick up in the first and second gear, but in third gear you feel that, had there been more power, it would have been better (great). This thought may be because I was driving a diesel car for the first time. (b) Boot space: It is big for sure..it gives you a feel of a big car. (c) Driving quality: This is one area where I have issues with Maruti. Providing good ride quality is just not Maruti fortay and Dzire’s riding quality can just not be called wow. Initially I was skeptical about it, but now I am sure that Maruti is best in value for money (honestly, no one can compete with it and the after sales service of Maruti can be only be called CONVENIENT), but when it comes to ride quality, Maruti is not the brand people should look for. At times I feel, Santro’s ride quality is better than Maruti Dzire.

  3. After driving for almost a month, I have literally become a fan of this car. It is smooth, it is big….it is comfortable to drive and manuvering in the city (Delhi) is as easy as walk in the park. Getting an average of AROUND 22/Km with AC on 80% of the times in the city. Actually a lot depends on how you drive. I drive at a speed of 60 – 80KM/hour.

Intend to write more depending on the comments/suggestions, I receive from the readers.

Need some expert advice!

Guys, I really need some expert advice. I own Maruti Dzire VDi, which I bought 3 months ago. Anyway, now to the point on which I need your comments/advice:

Initially when I bought the car, it was really smooth...what smooth it slid, but since I have got the first free service done, it feels that car is lacking energy. No matter in which gear I drive, I feel something is missing. It is not as smooth as the way it was initially. You know the way you feel when air pressure in the tyres of your car is very low. I literally feel that I am dragging my car (not technically). I have got the air pressure checked number of times (36 for front wheels and 33 for rear. Correct me if I am wrong.), but things are still the same. I have never driven a diesel car in the past and only drove petrol cars. You think the reason could be that? Are diesel cars suppose to be like that? Hope to get some good advice on this platform.
