We, a three member team - each one wanted to buy a car, evaluated multiple vehicles before zeroing on Dzire.
*About us:
*Person 1: Had Accent GLE, wanted to go for high seating car with good mileage and pickup. Person 2: had Wagon R. wanted a car with ease in ingress/egress and good boot space.
Person 3: First time car buyer. Looking for power and mileage
What we wanted:
a) Car to suit city driving of 40KM/Day, around 1000 on weekends on month/bi-monthly basis.
b) Value for money and good mileage
c) Resale value
d) Within a budget of 7 Lakhs.
*The cars we evaluated:
*Sumo Grande, Ford Fusion, Indigo CS, Swift, Fiat Palio Multijet, Swift Dzire.
*Our findings:
Sumo Grande:
* Pros: Spacious, high position.
Cons: horrible clutch(very hard), not suitable for day to day city driving - unless you are a cab driver
*Ford Fusion:
* Pros: Superb space, SUV Looks
Cons: Costly for our budget, less pickup(doest feel power in 2nd gear), costly service
*Indigo CS:
* Pros: Less on price, good space and boot
Cons: very noisy, less responsive and low build quality(Doors felt like breaking up)
*Swift Diesel:
* Pros: Mileage, Power, handling
Cons: Rear looks
*Fiat Palio Multijet:
* Pros:Good revvy engine, quality build, ease of handling
Cons: almost none. We were afraid of its resale value
*Dzire:
* Pros: Same as swift but with boot
Cons: could not find any.
We concluded that Dzire meets all our expections and two of us have booked the vehicle. Once we get hands on our own beasts, we'll post detailed and exhaustive reviews.
Thanks for reading this far. Please note that we evaluated the above cars w.r.t. our needs. I would advise, take a test drive like we did and then decide for yourself.
