I got my swift Dzire VDi after a long wait of 1 month. luckily I got the color I choose. and my friend in sagar automobile helped to get me the car soon, I know 1 month is not short period other showroom told me that it takes 2-3 months compared to this I feel 1 month is quite decent time to wait.
this is best sedan for middle class family. as already many of here told about the feature of the car I will not elaborate that again here.
After driving Maruti Zen, I felt the dzire ride is very smooth. its a very easy to get in/out for a person like me(5.9' hight).
What’s good in dzire.
Apart from Good Engine and Mileage the Dzire has got ample luggage boot space.
Built in audio system, Center locking, Rare Seat Arm Rest, Silent Air Blower.
my zen used to make a noise when the Air blower is used.
AC is very good.
After using for 2 months I noticed few things missing.
Interiors
There is a no water bottle holder in front row, only in back door trim there is a provision to keep the water bottle. At least at one side of the door trim bottle holder could have been better. When you are driving alone and if the water bottles are the back its very hard to reach, that to while driving its DANGER.
I felt glow box is very small and it could have been made bigger utilizing the dashboard space. You can put up to one cd pouch(25 cds) few documents of car and a first aid kit. Nothing else will fit in there.
Driver seating comfort is not up to the mark. After driving for a week I developed backpain, with a little extra cushion I could avoid back pain. I don’t it may not be the same case with others.
If a arm rest provided for the driver seat, believe me the driving comfort would be excellent. When I was driving to mysore my mom kept her handbag on the top of hand break. I used it as hand rest J. A good comfort. Swift has a cup holder at back to which a hand rest can be fitted but dzire doesn’t have that. For that I have to change the complete plastic molding till the Gear liver.
After a week of driving I thought to put a leather seat covers and I was looking for something to match all my car interior look like the luxury sedan. Before buying dzire I test drove Honda city the interior are very good.
My dzire has a dark gray colored interiors/ door drims, this dark color is disadvantage. I have been to stainly, karlsoon and many other place. Only option I got is to play with the dark color seat cover and it wont look royal or elegant.
Backseat comfort
This is not a car for people who site back n ride, back seat leg space is not at all good. Nothing much to explain here, coz I cant fit in back side J.
Are u music buff?
If yes then Dzire audio system is grate disappointment. I am seriously thinking to replace the audio system with some good ICE. Some people said u replace the stock speaker, component speaker with amplifier u will get a decent sound. I never tried that and looking of some one has done it. Dzire has a Nippon audio system which has the controls like this
Bass/Treble adjustment
Right/Left Balance
And……………………. that’s it nothing else
Unlike other music system this system also read the MP3 Track name/ album name but reads only up to 6 -7 char that’s all, read that and guess which album/folder etc.
At higher volume car speaker will start to rattle, very poor sound quality.
Even I am not happy the FM radio reception. a virtual stereo effect. May be the reception problem or something I don’t know. In Bangalore nearly 8 fm station are there my car audio never detected few stations while scanning.
After Warranty period I will replace with the good ICE, sub woofer. Now I don’t want to risk the warranty. Something better than nothing. Forcing myself to like the built in sound system.
Exteriors
You have get used to taking reverse In Dzire, without parking sensor aid very difficult. If there is a small scoter like scooty parked <1mt back of Dzire even with the 2 side mirror and center mirror u can’t see. while I ended up few scratch in rare bumper like this while taking reverse.
Is Ground Clearance relay good compared to other car in same segment?
While it happened to drive the Dzire around the rural area outside Bangalore with the 5 people on board. I was cursing around 50km/h suddenly saw a road hump from now where. Suddenly slowdown to <20km/hr and drove, I heard a strong sound of “THUDDDD” it was like something strongly hit my heart.
I pulled the car to road side and inspected. the rare bumper and silencer had hit the road hump and could notice the fresh scratch on road hump. I was in alert for next road hump guess what all road humps kissed my car silencer.
Next time in the same road with four people on board I drove and didn’t touch a single road hump.
I always use low beam in city driving with my zen I can easily see the obstruction 20 -30 mts away. But in Dzire it hard to see the person crossing the road 15mt away if ur driving in low beam. In city the opposite vehicle light creates blind spot. if the low beam leave increased to little height this problem would not be there.
Stock bulbs are 60W power make very poor visibility while driving in highways. If you drive frequently in highway’s the headlight should be upgraded.
Now we will talk about engine.
Wow, many of people asked my is it a petrol or diesel engine? Grate pickup and good power. For city driving this is the best sedan. No frequent gear change in traffic.
Before buying dzire I searched many site and blogs every one told u can’t hear a engine sound, while mine in 1st and 2nd gear below 40 speed sounds like tractor engine. Yes sound is less but I can hear that annoying sound. I asked dealer they said it is the diesel engine sound of every car.
Don’t know is there anything wrong in my car or not. Not drove any other dzire to confirm.
Initially I got the mileage of 14 with ac always on. After first service also 14 mileage, No change. In highway I have got up to 18 mileage. Many told it will improve after 2nd service which is due to 5000 kms.
This are my observations and I think this may help for any one purchasing new swift Dzire.
