The New Dzire was launched in FEB 2012. This is based on an all new platform and is the second sedan in India whose length is below 4 meters. The other being Indigo CS.The advantages are lower cost to the buyer. This is due to the excise benefits for a sub 4 m car. The Indian Government, in its effort to promote small & fuel-efficient cars, imposes a discounted 10% excise duty on cars that are <4 meters in length, and have an engine capacity of less than or equal to 1.2L(petrol) / 1.5L(diesel). Cars that don't meet this criteria pay the regular 22% excise tax.
The wheel base of 40 mm more than its predecessor gives more space. The beige interiors look excellent.
When compared to old dzire the inside of the new Dzire is where you will really notice the improvements.The dash wears a dual-tone shade, with a black top and a beige lower half. Faux wood replaces the tasteful silver accents of the Swift. The textured plastic on the dashboard & door panels is great & so are the chrome door handles. It is the interiors which should be good, because you are the one who is sitting inside and feeling the good atmosphere.

The doors auto-lock once you cross 20 km/hr speed. And unlock when you remove the key from the ignition.
Maruti's 1.2L K-series has always been considered top class. With variable valve tech on the intake, the power output has been bumped up to 86 BHP(@ 6, 000 rpm) and 114 Nm of torque(@ 4, 000 rpm). The engine has been tuned for maximum efficiency. On the positive side, the engine remains very revv-happy & refined throughout the rpm range. The feel above 4, 000 rpm is just awesome.
