Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is an awesome car. It gives you real value for money.

The best thing I like about this car is its amazing power. At power-to-weight ratio of 89 bhp per tonne it is quite a fast car. Power delivery is also linear. From 50 kmph to 140 kmph, you can manage on 5th gear. You just don't have to downshift while overtaking. In that range power delivery is absolutely linear.

I would urge prospective buyers to go for the VXI model. It is loaded with features like front and rear power windows, central lock, 2-DIN music system, electrically operated optical rear view mirrors, dual tone interiors, rear armrest, fog lamps etc. The ZXI model has many more features. But due to its sporty build, the suspension is rather stiff. You will feel every bump badly.

Fuel economy is good for a car of its size. My car is almost new, having done only 3000 kms. In city I get a mileage of 14.5 kmpl with AC on all the time. On highways it is much better. Car critics write a lot about its small boot. But I have checked myself that it can easily accommodate two large VIP Skybags. That is more than sufficient for our Indian lifestyle. We don't carry our bicycles in our trunks.

In the ergonomics division the car has some negative points. First the gear is slightly out of reach even for a person will long limbs like me. The horn is centrally mounted. So you cannot use your thumb to operate it. In city driving that is a major disadvantage.

The only real problem with this car is it quality of ride. On smooth roads it handles like an F1 car. But on bad roads it rides like an auto-rickshaw. It just cannot absorb bumps and potholes. Even in the driver's seat I can feel the roughness of roads quite sharply. If your commute covers large stretches of bad roads, you may have to consider Indigo eCS. I hate to recommend a Tata over a Maruti car. But the reality of Indian roads sometimes forces us to buy Tata cars.

-6.5 years later-

I still own this car. It is going strong even after 40000 km, mostly in bumper to bumper city traffic.

I have smoothened the ride a bit by adding aftermarket suspension fitments from Roger.
