I bought my SX4 ZXi model in Dec 2007 and have done around 2000 kms now. Great car with very good prerformance on highway. Technical specifications are known to all, so no need to write anything on that. Like to share few comments which might be helpful for others who are planning to buy.
Positives:
Great inside space and boot space. When I went for a vacation, I took my son's medium sized cycle inside the car, plus other luggages and still plenty of space remaining.
Great mileage(comparison with C segment): I live in bangalore and I get around 10 kms in bangalore city. I went to Kerala and in my home town I am getting 15 kms. I tested the mileage in highway and I was surprised to see 22 kms of mileage and that too 30% of the run in lower gears.
Great preformance: I went on 170 km/hr in bangalore-mysore highway and was surprised with the performance. There is no fear factor even in that speed while sitting inside with windows closed. Earlier when I used to drive my ZEN crossing 120 will start creating panic inside the car.
Good safety features and comfirt levels inside.
*Negatives:
Gear shift to 1st and Reverse. Sometimes I am not able to shift gears to 1st or reverse when the car is on halt. I have to switch to some other gear and then only it changes to 1st or reverse. I took advice from the service center and they replied, that SX4 is using new cable system for gears unlike other old cars, so it is because of my inexperience. Let me wait and see for some more time.
Rear view problems due to the huge size. I already got couple of scatches in my mudflap while taking reverse in my parking area:(
Sharp right turns - Front A-Pillar is blocking the visibility on turns. I have to look over the steering wheel through the front glass to double-check that no vehicles are coming on the way. 2-wheelers are not visible through that small glass fitted.
Note: Beware of the free items provided by the dealers during the delivery of the car. I got few freebies, and one of them was a perfume. I fitted this perfume in the front air outlet above the stereo panel. Afternoon I noticed some leakage from the perfume bottle and removed it. But damage was already done. Music panel got burns due to the acidity of the perfume liquid. I informed the dealer but they were not able to do anything. They just polished the area and gave it back during first service.
