Its been barely 5 days since I've bought an sx4 zxi and I cant tell you how happy I am! What I love about this car is -
The feeling of driving an SUV that you get by the sturdy looking dash board sheer volume is just phenomenal! Being seated at a greater height when compared to other vehicles, gives you a great view and feeling while driving.
The power of the SX4 is just great in its class! I used to drive an IKON 1.6 liter before this, which in my opinion was one of the peppiest cars because of its power to weight ratio and torque curve of the engine. I test drove the honda city vtec(i personally loved the design, and feel that Honda has a great brand value) and I felt like it was a serious downgrade from my ikon in terms of torque delivery. The SX4 is just the opposite! Its initial pick up and acceleration is just amazing and feels just the same as the ikon but with a much bulkier and sturdier build! What I'd say is, it feels "planted and sturdy" like the skoda lauras and as responsive as an ikon 1.6:) - simply the best of both worlds!
The car has every damn feature you could ever wish for and more.I dont find a reason to upgrade my car unless I'm looking for upgrading for "status symbol" reasons, or perhaps higher power. I'm happy with the Suzuki/Maruti brand image and am generally happy as long as the product is good. Also, higher power is not all that essential for city driving and basic highway driving on indian roads.trust me, the SX4 has enough grunt to keep you MORE than happy! Back to features, the main features which blew me over were - air bags, climate control, ABS & EBD, great looks!
Attention to detail - bottle holders for each door, steering remote control, intermittent viper with time interval settings knob, rear fog lamp, rear seat arm rest, automatic climate control with sub functions manually over-rideable(example, if the auto mode decides to take outside air, u can manually force it not to.it will keep everything else in auto except what you override - brilliant!), head light focus adjustment, inside cabin lights automatic turning ON upon unlocking or engine off with fading, warning sounds for various things(example - headlights ON when key removed beeps warning u.or.door open with keys in etc.), dashboard lighting brightness control, the list goes on and on! Hands down victory here for the SX4. One thing which left me hoping for more on this department was the lack of backlit buttons for the power windows and on-steering audio controls.
Maruti service reach and reliability - needs no explanation here. the general feeling of "its not going to cost me a bomb if something screws up" is worth a lot to me:)
ABS & EBD - needs a separate mentioning for sure! ABS is just amazing.try this yourself - find a sandy patch on the sides of a road and drive at a pace of about 50-60 kmph.and when on the sand.brake REALLY hard and dont take your foot off the pedal.you'll here the ABS in action and also feel it! Absolutely no skidding, and the best part, you can still steer the car for that brief distance! Try this on watery surfaces also.just doesnt skid! Gives me a lot of confidence, esp while on highways.if something comes out of nowhere, you can confidently slam the brakes without worrying to skid and lose steering control!
Airbags - great to have. You know you're safe while out there. I would have liked a "Turn Off passenger air bag" option though. If you happen to drive alone, its pointless to have two airbags deploying!
Great resale - dont think i'd ever sell this car. There's a great possibility I'd buy the same thing again even if I do:D
Gives the high end cars in upper segments a run for its offering!
I could keep writing how much I love my sx4.its a great buy, a no-brainer decision to make! So, close your eyes and buy one if your heart desires it.you'd love it more each day you drive it! trust me;o)
