Hi, This is R.K.Mishra from Ranchi.I bought this beast on 2nd January 2008 from M/s Premsons Motor as I was looking to upgrade from my current car which is the 5-speed 800 DX model.Initially I was inclined towards Verna.However, i had to cancel my decision when I had visited their workshop.
Its my belief that one should pay a visit to the workshop to know that what are the problems/defects faced by customers, before investing in the product.Many santros and accents were there with a complaint of rusting.Even a Verna GX's user was facing a similar problem.This caused suspicion in my mind and I decided not to risk my money.
Aveo was ruled out for difficult after sales maintenance, as GM's service network is not so well establiished in India.Also, I didnt like its dashboard and rear looks.
Fiesta-The ground clearance was too low.Even during the test drive, the underbody was hit by many arrogantly standing speed breakers.Even if you compare the specs and equipments list with other sedans, the Fiesta doesn't stand up to expectation.Many mouthshut members have even complained about its costly after-sales maintenance due to costly spares.Thus Fiesta was marked off.
Reluctantly, the only option which was left before me was to go either for Swift Dzire(ugly duckling) or SX4.Took a number of test drives, contacted many users and to cut a long story short, I booked SX4 ZXi on 24th December.It is the ZXi variant clothed in midnight black colour.I had opted ffor ZXi without leather variant as the stuff provided by them at the additional cost was not appealing to my senses.
This car is a delight to drive.It has the road presence of a SUV.The powerful 1600 CC engine that lurks under its crafted hood is completely different and more powerful than its predecessor, the Baleno.Overtaking and speeding is very easy in this vehicle.Just a slight push to the accelerator rockets you through the traffic.This car also has excellent off-roading capabilities.
The sturdy suspension and large tyres embraces the bad roads well.The high ground clearance is a boon for indian road conditions.The seating is perfect.The mileage calculated was 14kmpl on highway with A/C switched on for all the journey.
The method used for calculating was full tank to full method.I haven't calculated the mileage in the city yet.I am myself surprised to receive such an outstanding mileage from my car, without any service or any attempt to save fuel.I hope that the mileage will go up after 1st service.
This car is very spacious and the rear seat crampness is absent here for which maruti is famous.The boot space(505ltrs) is more than sufficient.A reverse parking sensor & camera is needed because the high waist-line and boot position makes reversing a clerkial job.Other queries about the car is welcomed.
Suggestion for new buyers-If you dont care much about mileage and fuel efficiency, ths is the car which you should go for.A very practical and stylish package offered by Maruti.I am sure that you will never regret your decision.There may be other brands in market, which may appear alluring, but for the long run this will prove as your true companion.Really, this is a tension-free car.I have already clocked 32000 kms without ANY problemHats off to SX4.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
